Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

By the way, congratulations to the QU Men's Basketball Team on winning the 2009-10 NEC Regular Season Championship!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

This game may have been meaningless to the standings but it sure meant a lot to us QU fans. Congratulations to all th QU team for finishing the regular season in such an outstanding effort. My wife and me are in Naples Fl.,and we went to a sports bar. She got the owner to put NESN (QU-Yale) on the largest tv. We had many in the bar cheering for QU, even though they knew nothing about hockey. Hi Mark and Wonger- you must have had a great time tonight. Good luck in the playoffs. Jim (sect, 113)

Thanks Jimmy! Yeah it sure was fun around the Bank tonight. Glad you got to see it down there is FLA.

As for the game, the boys skated hard and deserved the win. Clarke was strong when he needed to be and aside from a very soft second goal, he was very dependable. I thought Maricic was awful. Yale really needs to figure out that goalie situation if they are to compete with the big boys in the NCAAs. The seniors stepped up again with another HUGE performance from our captain JMB. Holt's wraparound was great as well.

The game lived up to the hype and the arena was rockin! Great turnout. Now, everyone has to do the same next weekend against those Green fellas.

As Puckie pointed out, congrats to our Men's Basketball team winning the league tonight and clinching the #1 seed in the NEC tourny.

Great night for the Q all around. Congrats to Rand and the boys and to Jack for all the success!

In other awesome Bobcat news...Eric Lampe has put himself at 98 career points and Captain Jean Marc Beaudoin has tallied 97 career points. They should both be able to achieve the 100 point mark next weekend against Dartmouth!

This game was just what the doctor ordered. After a shaky start, we settled in and got the job done. At times it looked like Yale was back on their heels and they had trouble all night getting any flow (even as Hicks and McDonald were trying to gift-wrap the game for them). We weren't stellar, but got pucks on net and, more importantly, in net. A huge confidence boost going into the playoffs for sure!

She got the owner to put NESN (QU-Yale) on the largest tv. We had many in the bar cheering for QU, even though they knew nothing about hockey.
Well done! Give her a kiss for me!

Hi Mark and Wonger- you must have had a great time tonight.
I don't think either of us will be able to talk tomorrow! ;)

The atmosphere at the Bank was probably the best I've ever seen! There were more students than for any other game and most of them stayed until the end. The regular crowd was great as well, including a rather large Yale contingent. Just an awesome night! The only complaint I have is that the band didn't play enough!

To me, the best part of the night was watching the team on the ice after the game smiling, hugging each other, and just plain revelling in a well deserved victory! Awesome job guys!

BEAT YALE

Hell yes, Bobcats!!!!!!

It's looking like I'll be heading up there Saturday for Game 2!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

The only complaint I have is that the band didn't play enough!

Having been at the game tonight (a few of us who are in town for the RPI/Q women's series were lucky enough to be invited to play with the Q band for tonight's game) I can say this isn't the band's fault. The rink is run like a dictatorship by a voice on a radio who determines when the band is allowed to play. If they start to play at a time they're not supposed to (even if there is nothing else going on) they are told over the radio to stop playing and have to comply.

It's kind of sad as your band has made some great strides since the first time I played with them at Northford several years ago. It would be nice for them to get a little more freedom - i.e. playing when the team comes out on the ice, playing at more stoppages, more songs during intermissions, etc.

Kudos to you for stepping in. I'm sure the band members appreciated it.

I realize that which was the basis for my comment.

The pep band has made huge steps in the right direction. They seemed to have a lot more opportunities during Friday's Brown game. With the crowd last night, it really would have made the atmosphere complete by letting the band play. I know there are reasons behind all decisions but I don't understand why the band doesn't get more air time.

Again, thanks to those of you who lent us a hand. I actually tried to get over and introduce myself but either couldn't fight through the crowd or got sidetracked in deep philisophical conversations. ;)

This story kicks ***. GO QU! Great day for the whole athletic program.

Nice weekend!

It's too bad it takes Yale to get a great crowd to show up. You'd think it'd excite people to come back for the playoffs, buttttt that's easier said than done.

Enough piped in music. The band sounds great. They even outplayed a much larger Brown band, who IMO, was pretty lousy. I agree that playing while the team enters the ice has a much better sound and feel than blasting some arena rock. At the very least they need to keep Brass Bonanza as the goal song!

Thanks for coming by and helpin out GRussinko!

The unfortunate thing about next weekend is spring break as the students leave campus Friday. I'm sure there will be a few diehards but we're going to need the regular crowd to step up.

Yeah, those spring break student crowds are always tough.

Well, Eric and crew need to sell those seats to the public and get the word out ASAP. I think the townies and season tix people will show up without an issue but they really aren't the noise makers. I see having no band as one of our bigger issues. Maybe they'll hang around.

Mark, Same thing happens here in Denver. Generally speaking, Denver earns home ice for the first round of the WCHA playoffs. The first round of the playoffs always falls on the second weekend of March. Because Denver's academic calendar is based on the quarter system--as opposed to the semester system--the undergraduate student body is on Spring Break. This results in "crowds" of thirty-five hundred to four thousand people being in an arena which holds 6,100 for hockey. Add the fact that Denver will be playing tenth place finisher Michigan Tech--a team it swept at home last weekend--and there may not be much incentive for fans to buy tickets for the series.

It's really a shame as it's the last time the seniors play at home and this year's senior class with: Rhett Rakhshani, Tyler Ruesegger, Cody Brookwell, Matt Glasser and Brandon Vossberg is a solid one.

The silver lining in all this is that this coming weekend Denver and Colorado College play their traditional end of the regular season home and home series. There's a good chance the DU seniors will be recognized before the game on Friday.

Nice job against Yale. :)

Thanks Shot! I know it was tough for you to say that without your usual commentary and I appreciate that! :p

The Yale home game is by far our biggest game of the year. Earlier in the season I thought it might actually have some significant meaning for both teams standings wise. As it turned out, that wasn't the case, but it was still huge in terms of pride and confidence going into the playoffs.

Best of luck to Denver the rest of the way as well!
