Providence College on the road to Tampa

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

How does a kid enroll in school on Wednesday and start in goal on Friday?

Generally, you have to enroll in classes to become a student. And if you are a student that has eligibility, you can play. Imagine that. Does PC do things differently? Do they dress players that are not students?

I think you've learned a lot today already. Did you know that thing they wack around is a puck and not a Ring Ding?

He is enrolled even if he hasn't started classes. A lot of fall sports team play a game or 2 before classes officially start.

BU just did it too. Go back to Jan 2009. Does he name Alex Beaudry mean anything.

Look, none of us like it when PC91's BFF and Gillies Superfan #1 shows up in other team's threads and starts trashtalking.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

They really need to figure this out against UVM.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

On the second disallowed goal, if the net lifted, it's only because the BC goalie himself lifted it. There wasn't anyone else close enough to cause it to lift.
Well, sure, but it was a foot from the goal mouth. What are you arguing here? That Milosz intentionally lifted the net to, what, intentionally give PC a goal?

On the first two waved off PC goals (as well as the one BC had waved off, let's not forget about that one), 'no goal' was 100% the correct call. As for the last PC goal waved off, yeah, that was BS, but so was BC's waved off goal in Florida. It all evened out.

Enjoy your evening.

Watching that, there is zero intent that i can see. He was going post to post and you barely even see the net move. That was not even remotely close to being a goal. Thankfully for BC, they had replay (unlike what happened in florida).

The BC goal that was waved off, I saw a BC player bat the puck with his glove out of the air and tap it in with his stick which is legal I thought. Did they wave it off for something else?

I love how PC fans are trying to say that the refs are out to get them on the net being lifted. Come on, stop being a homer

Before we're too hard on PC, there were 3 disallowed goals against PC. Two in the first period, and one in the last 5 minutes of the 3rd when PC was on a power play. The puck went in and the light went on, and a goal was signaled. While people were cheering, the ref (Gravellese) skated to the video area and people groaned expecting the third review of the night. Incredibly, it was announced that there was no goal because the whistle blew before the goal. There was absolutely no reason for the whistle on the play, and no one heard the whistle where I was sitting. A HockeyEast screw job.

The only question I have is both Grav and Benedotti haven't done any PC home games this year and all of a sudden get the BC game. Odd to me.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

They haven't done any BC games that I've attended. Didn't make ND.

It seems like HE has brought in a bunch of new officials this year. I've been to many games this season where I didn't recognize any of the officials names.

Zlax. Those 2 seem to be on a reduced schedule as they age, unlike Bunyon who still does lots of games. My count Gravelese has done 12 games, Saturday being the first since mid Decmber, Benedetto has 13 games, this was 2nd game in '16. Of those games they have paired up 6 times. Really looks like they don't travel far and don't do back to back nights.

Yes they did work a BC game together--Mich State.

The BC player - Wood, who should be playing for Brown right now :'( - tapped it with his stick after it had crossed the line. He punched it into the net and THEN tapped it, so that's why it didn't count.

It was close though as it happened right in front of me. I don't even remember if this was reviewed or not.

It was but I didn't pull the GIF of it -- he did get the stick on it but it was definitely well across the goal line when he did.

Yes, very close - he touched it just a few inches over the line. I was watching on the stream and the overhead replay was conclusive.

I believe it went off the crossbar after he punched it, so it took a weird bounce into the net.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

This reminds me of something from a couple years ago. I think BC had a goal waved off at ND when they ruled the player batted the puck towards net so even though he got stick on it after that it didn't matter.

Now i have to see if there's a recap of that game.
