Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Some sobering stats as we enter the final two weekends...

-PC has 12 wins in their last 77 Hockey East games (12-50-15)

-PC is winless in their last 24 Hockey East road games (last win: at Umass, October 31st, 2009)

-PC won 1 game after January 16th in 2009
-PC won 1 game after January 16th in 2010
-PC has won 0 games after January 16th in 2011

-Of all Division 1 programs, only Alabama-Huntsville and Harvard have scored fewer goals (tied with Bowling Green for 3rd worst in nation)

-Army's record at PC is now 65-114-27
-Will be the first Friar coach to put together 4 straight losing seasons

Thanks HockeyMan for these wonderful facts!
You would think any coach in Hockey East would be dismissed after this season with this type of record regardless of the number of years left on a contract. It's not working, let's move on and find another coach.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

So, Army has to be fired after this year right? I know he has a couple years left on the contract, but there comes a time when driscoll just has to let go. If he does go, what are the chances we loose some of the better recruits he has coming in? I have a hunch it'll be an interesting offseason for the higher ups in the athletic dept.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

PC will sweep Lowell this weekend then Lowell will sweep Vermont the final weekend. That leaves PC in the 8 seed with a first round matchup at MC.

PC splits with UML and is swept by MC keeping Tim's record of 1 win after Jan 16th alive for a 3rd straight season. Congrats to ARMY.... BE ALL YOU CAN BE !!

As for UML/UVM... well who really cares this year?

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

So no posts after last nights game or before BU comes to our place...... I guess the season really is over.

Moving on... PC received a commitment from the top goal scorer in New England Prep hockey. Connor Gorman from the New Hampton School will come to PC in 2012. He's 5'10" 170 from Shrewsbury Mass. and plays LW. He'll play next year in EJHL for the NH Jr. Monarchs. In 29 games so far this year he has 35 goals and 59 points. He has great speed & quickness and is known as a tenacious and relentless player. Here's some video of him:

Not to be a jerk but my question would be, if this kid is that good, why is he coming to PC? I mean seriously, if you have a pulse and have followed this team the past few years and you were good enough to be a legit player and get a d1 offer, why go to PC? I hope hes the real deal and comes in and helps turn the program around, but my thoughts are even if he is a good player, he wont get the coaching he needs to fulfill that potential. I'm so disgusted with the team i haven't been to a game all year, that and my brother is playing d3 so I choose to go watch him instead, but why is it that some of these players just never got any better under army, or not until they were seniors anyways? How does bergland go from putting up 25 or so points as a freshman to single digits this years as a junior? I can't blame him because he obviously had the talent to get those points as a freshman, so who do you blame other than coaching.

What are your guys thoughts on getting Bennett to come down from Union if the hockey guy ever gets the sack to can army at the end of this season?

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

FYP.

I'd like to see PC sweep UML and take one from MC, but I think we're kidding ourselves if we think we have a chance to make the playoffs...

Chances are likely that he'll be playing for a new coach in 2012. Even if Army has too much of a buy-out for 2 seasons, you can see them cutting the cord going into next year, or else Army doing what Pooley did and that's save face and leave before they fire him.

Otherwise, why else would he come here? To spend 4 years in the conference basement like most of the team has?

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

I believe that I'm going to my second to last game as a Friar fan this evening. Is anyone else going to be in attendance?

I'm hoping to see my friend Bobby D and ask him how he feels the season is going. I'll accept an answer of poorly for either hoop or hockey although I'm sure that "the "hockey guy" will want to talk about hoop, as that program has a shot of getting better over the next four years!!!

Maybe the coach's wife will have one of her kids banging plastic buckets AGAIN to drum up some excitement? I love her take charge attitude!!! If only her husband had half the sack of his wife!!!

I do smell a win tonight!!!! At least I think that smell is victory> ;)

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Great...a tie...I wasn't going to go next weekend but my girlfriend wants me to come because her friends are bringing boyfriends to alumni that have never been to a hockey game. Looks like I'm gonna be forced to have my 3 gansett challenge at FOF between periods and tell army that his days are numbered.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Armys days are numbered with dollar signs, he goes nowhere as long as his contract is good and don't think he will do what is right and resign.....still no wins in January again

What a great way to introduce people to the game of hockey...that is, if you don't want them to come back, lol.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

BTW, just checked some of my reps from the last few months. How I love Hokyfraud and these comments, lol...and if they're not from him, whoever wrote the first one (from last November) ought to be man enough to come on here and talk about how well they've done since. FRAUDS.

"sniff my A F Face. must suck knowing army and his kid are doing well. no worries, someone told me who you were and army etc will be impressed"

"Go F yourself you piece of SH**"

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

The women's team plays maine today at 2 in the hockey east quarterfinal...i hope people actually show up! It's so sad the best hockey on campus is ignored by the student body.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

"what should I say back to someone who talks about glory holes and pedophiles all day long? You fng fool" was my only gift.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

The Friars got a tie last night against the last place team in HE, things ARE looking up!!! At least it's not a loss, you sewing circle naysayers. I call ä Providence tie an "Army Win".

Three more "Army wins" and the Friars might be able to "win" their way into the HE playoffs!!!!

It's Timmy Time baby and you know what that means.....Timmy Time quickly turns into Tourney Time!!! See you at the Garden then onto the NCAA regionals. After that he's bringing the magic to the land of 10,000 lakes!!!!

BANG THAT BUCKET BABY!!!! HHHHOOOOORRRRAAAAAYYYYY!!!! You sewing sisters don't know shizzznit!!!!

Is his fam still banging the bucket? I haven't, thankfully, been around to watch that lol.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

I figured when I tuned into the UML radio broadcast and Army had taken a TO in the 2nd period to yank Beaudry and try and regroup that this one was long over. What's incredible is that they got outplayed and manhandled by a UML team that's had for the most part a worse season than PC has.

So barring a win next weekend, PC will have basically gone two consecutive, entire seasons without winning a road game in Hockey East....and no wins in the conference since November 5th.

Pathetic is an understatement.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

You got the split.....a tie and a loss to the last place team in Hockey East......what a season........go Timmie boy
