Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

In honor of HankWP, I'm thinking of hiring one of my IT friends to do some research and find out who Hokiedad really is. Of course, we'd also find out the cause of his warped fascination with college hockey. Hank helped us get rid of two knuckleheads and I'll do what I can to get rid of this clown.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

I'm just enjoying the witty reparte.

Dare I ask how we fair against BGSU this weekend?

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Knowing how bad the program at BG has been they would have had a tough time recruiting over the last few years, I expect PC to take 2 and by at least 2 goals in each game.......then Jon can use my Rose colored glasses

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

FYI

BU dominated the game but ND banged them in when they had chances. BU had times where they would hit posts, miss net, blocked shots etc.

Turning point in game was the first period intermission when Jeff Jackson spen 5 minutes blasting the refs. Toruring them about calls. For the first 10 minutes of second, they gave everything to notre dame. Jackson is a heck of a coach

ND is well coached, and classy team to watch. BU is more like a bunch of nhl kids skating aroung, more individual then ND for sure.

I was looking at the HE predictions thread. Despite a nice split in South Bend last weekend it seems that more HE watchers than not seem to be favoring BGU vs. PC this weekend. I would think that another split this wekend is not unreasonable but many have the Friars getting swept.
Boy are they going to be disappointed!!!

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Will there be internet access on the bench? :p

That's cold. Funny, but cold.:D
I'm guessing that the bench-top has been put away this season, hence the early success.
Let's hope those days are gone for good.
Sad though how everyone else noticed it last season.

The laptop is still behind the bench, it was there for the Holy Cross game. I don't think it is going away :(. Army was watching the replays from the COX feed.

Good. Whatever he did it worked vs HC and ND. Beat them where BU was shut out by them. Maybe Parker and Pearl can split on a Dell laptop.

Maybe he is doing better with the computer on the bench this year because he has learned how to turn it.
2-1-0 with it on the bench but turned on THIS season. Just 7-22-5 with it on the bench but turned off LAST season. Makes sense.
Who says you can't teach a old dog new tricks???:p

Watching a replay is good I hope that's all he uses it for during a game.....coach the game by gut instinct

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

2 victories in October is all well and good. I remember a PC team that had a great win over BC on Halloween, and then got absolutely destroyed in the playoffs by that BC team. So while I am happy with 2 wins I am not booking frozen four tickets just yet. ( Well I am but not expecting to root for my team there.)

I can't see the Friars getting swept. Other way around, more likely. Most recently, my boys took a beating by the NTDP U18 team. The weekend before, they were swept by Minnie State and outshot by something like 70-45. I saw the NTDP game and heard the second MSU game, and it wasn't pretty. My Falcons might not win until January.

Welcome to our corner of the web!!!

Obviously, we'd both like to see our respective teams sweep this weekend series. :D

Both teams played each other tough last season with PC edging BG 4-3 as you know. The Friars lost their next game against UMass Lowell, beat Holy Cross (as they always should) then went 0-10-1 in their next eleven games. The Friars went on a four game winning streak to open up the second half of the season but finished the rest of the year going 1-10-4.
Players spoke of a house divided toward the end and the fact that the coach lost the team but that was last year, right?
So PC is looking to keep it together to build on their solid start.
The team is too young IMO for me to get a good feel for whether they can keep up the pace for the long haul but I think that most of the posters here will tell you that they've started started off the season with some good hustle and some goals (which were in fairly short supply for a chunk of last season).
To be fair, I have only heard to broadcasts thus far and only heard what I believe to be a team playing with pep and that they are off on the right foot. I think that the team will be exciting to watch this season, win or lose.

Best luck the rest of the way. Our two teams seem as though they are experiencing similar growing pains.

Netman- I remember the Halloween win because the costume of choice for PC co-eds that year was tiny cocktail dresses.

I don't think my son watched a SECOND of that game. I only watched a few minutes of it myself.:p

Fortunately for PC ice hockey, I only noticed them at the end of the game... but there was some serious talent on display that night.
