Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Welcome to our corner of the web!!!
Thanks for the warm welcome!
Both teams played each other tough last season with PC edging BG 4-3 as you know.
In 2006, Mrs. Spiehler (she'll kill me if she sees that) and I had the pleasure of seeing a BG victory over PC in Providence.
Our two teams seem as though they are experiencing similar growing pains.
We've got 11 freshman, and the leading returning scorer, Solway, was injured in the first (exhibition) game. My guys need to show more life than they did last weekend.

I hope you didn't take too much pleasure in it.;)

I've see the Falcons play against PC and watched them play as part of the same tourney lineup @ Dartmouth a couple of years back. The Falcons have seemed to be well coached and a tough opponent. I expect this weekend will be no different.
PC is 1-4 at BGU and 4-5-0 overall with BGU. So you've got that going for you.:p
I do expect that a good natured butt busting will be in the mix either coming from your way or sent out to your neck of the woods after the games but I'm glad that you found your way here. Hopefully you will check in on us through out the season. We are a merry band who claim anyone good enough to claim us.:D

One of these days, I just know that Mrs. Jon is going to show up here as SimsFan#1...

I see a split. And I'm fine with that.

Hello PC friends. I wanted to let you all know that I have purchased my first PC jersey. :)

Yard sale at Armys house ?

The amusing thing is that Merrimack's new road jerseys and the gold third jersey are awesome. If anything, we should all be buying Warrior merchandise.

Welcome back. Where you bing meng?
Hope all is well w/ you.

Are the Warriors going to make some noise this season?
I'm glad that you got your PC jersey. You must have gotten it from an outside source because PC makes you jump over a barrel to obtain gear.
Unless you want any one of the five things that the "souvenir table" at the games has to offer. :p

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Noticed Hendrickson in his Hockey East weekend preview piece, picked us to sweep this weekend. Its still a road game against a CCHA team, early in the season, PC is still young, etc. - so I expect a hard fought weekend. Though I do wonder, if PC wins Friday night if we'll see Gates in goal Saturday night to give him some playing time before league games.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

I too picked a sweep and by multiple goals in each game.....is the game available on line anywhere

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

PC leading 8-2 with 6 minutes and change left to in the third.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Bergland with hat trick tonight.....

So the Friar youngs do in the BG youngs in this one...will be interesting to see how they Friars come out tomorrow....

Friars have gotten great play out of the fourth line in these opening games...

BTW, Merrimack beating Vermont 4-2 in the third....

I WIsh they sold the new Merrimack gear but the Hockey East Online site sucks for gear

Amazing! UVM smoked BC 4-1 last week too. I am hoping we can do the same when we face them. I don't want to get ahead of myself.

Anyways yes, I have a PC jersey now. It's been years since I hung with you guys down there. I'd love to come down and have beers and see a game with you all this season sometime. Whatever happened to Mike?

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Hey now! a win on the road, beating a CCHA team, a hat trick, scoring on the power play, senior's scoring, freshmen scoring, good goaltending, etc. etc.

Need to finish of a great weekend tomorrow.

Good win, nice job Friars.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Cannata had 25 saves in the 5-2 win. Maybe there is hope for PC and MC this season

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Even though the score was worse than last weekend's, I'm happier. BG put a team on the ice. Last week, it was just some guys in BG uniforms skating around.

The shot differential was again pathetic. PC's goals resulted from defensive lapses (Hey, defense! Clear the puck out of the slot after a rebound!), weird bounces, goalie inattention, and fine shooting. The seventh came on quite a shot, from the left faceoff circle, quick as anything, top right corner.

I bought a new hat from the clearance table. (Didn't see any Merrimack stuff. :D )
