Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

PC played every bit as good in 2nd game as first game, good Job

You heard it here first, new kid at Merrimack from France is a stud. Will be one of the top F's in hockey East
I think number 24

Stephane Da Costa is indeed #24. Thanks for the heads up.
Krieder from BC is another one that will make people take notice. Looking forward to seeing the new talent in the league this season. Too bad the next home game is weeks away.

Speaking of new talent - our freshmen have seemed to play well early. Of course Jamnick with the winner on Thursday, Schaller seems to be that big center we've been missing the last few years, Rooney will be that guy other teams hate the next few years, and I think Velischek will be putting up points soon.

Also look forward to seeing Landman, Simon, and Hess get some ice time - maybe next weekend.

The Decosta kid I mentioned earlier, the Merrimack kid from France already has 4 goals through 2 periods.... What a pick up

Merrimack is a good school but I think that he should transfer. He'd probably like Providence a whole lot better than North Andover for SO many reasons.;)

He ended up getting 5 including a hat trick in first period... Not many kids do that in their second game ever...

Saw today where Providence is coming to Huntsville next year. Thanks! :)

If he transfers to Providence he will probably be playing for the Baby B's not the Friars. :D

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Only the 3rd player in the history of Army hockey to score 5 goals against them and it includes a 75 year+ schedule of D 1 games.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

And what does that prove ????? They are still a second rate team facing a low rated HE team and should get their butts whipped.....just so happened one guy got some good shots off......crown him when he plays against any real D1 teams......does not mean he is not a good player but what ever you do against poor teams does not make you rookie of the year

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Army is one of the most respected programs in D 1 and is not a second rate D 1 program. Maybe in your eyes but every single D 1 coach in the country would find that offensive. Not one other "HIGH" end D 1 program has scored 5 goals against them in over 25 years. The players in the league also admire greatly the team, what they stand for and look at it as an honor to play them. Army stands for what is good in college hockey.

Anyone that would call them a second rate team, a poor team and "any real D1 team" is out of touch with reality. They are one of 5 schools with over 1000 wins, won the Atlantic 10 in 2008, beat Miami of Ohio last year in Miami's home tourney etc.

Watch this video, then ask any D 1 program, coach or player if they share your view. You are wrong.

I certainly don't intend to denigrate Army at all, but when you write "not one other "HIGH" end D 1 program has scored 5 goals against them in over 25 years," are you trying to imply that no high end teams play them? Perusing Army's records over the years, they have given up five or more goals on numerous occasions.

It doesn't have a thing to do with PC but we try to run a broad based thread here.:D
Hokydad seems to root for a few teams (which should not be taken as a slight). It appears that he follows PC but knows a good deal about Merrimack et al.
HD mentioned Da Costa's performance the other night against Army which has sparked a spirited back and forth about whether that performance can be used as a barometer of his potential performance against HE teams.
Satyking seems to be down on the quality of Army hockey (the team not the coach) and Hokydad seems to hold Army (again the team but I think the coach as well) in higher regard.
You GFM, like the rest of us are along for the ride, while Mr. Baer who is a friend to this thread, despite his allegiance TO THE CHEATING ENGINEERS of RPI ;), recently has asked for clarification and injected his two cents.
Finally TPFD most recently asked a question.
I think that about sums it up for now....

Did I done good following along?

By some accounts he might just skip the minors all together. :p

I just think it would be better for his soul to transfer immediately from that Heathen Haven in North Andover.;)
