PrimeLink Shootout

Re: PrimeLink Shootout

Hate to beat a dead horse here but...GRRR!!! 30 seconds into the game, a goal is scored, and those of us watching on the Internet saw NOTHING because the camera was trailing the play. So frustrating. I'll probably turn of the computer and listed to Ducky.

Not only did the cameraman miss the goal, but they showed a replay of it. By "it" I mean ......... nothing.

Re: PrimeLink Shootout

Unfortunately I got paged to work and had to rely on the Primelink feed, granted I have a fractional T1, but the Primelink feed MORE than kept pace with the WIRY feed, and often was ahead of it - particularly in the last half of the third period. As for the student cameraman not being set to catch a goal before the first 30 seconds of the game elapsed, I guess we should expect him/her to finish their degree - overall - AN OUTSTANDING Webcast! (unless your ISP had issues).

Re: PrimeLink Shootout

Hey Puck Voice or Lee VT- Are we going to hear George call the game via radio in the rink tonight? We sure missed him last night. Hope everything is fixed so we can hear the Cadet scorers as they crush P-burgh tonight. Can't wait!

    Equipment problems!
We will make every effort to get them fixed by next weekend ... we really miss the fans being able to hear us in the rink ... I really like to feed off that interaction ... always have.

Having said that ... it was especially frustrating tonight ... WHAT A GAME ... and the SHOOTOUT >>> SPECTACULAR !!!

Can't wait for the rematch in January !

Thanks for your efforts, sometimes technology just bites!
Awesome game tonight, possibly the best Primelink championship ever. I have been a Norwich fan for twelve years and prior to that, a PSUC fan as I grew up in the Burgh. I have always thought that the Cadets were the better team, both in discipline and desire. However, these two teams were evenly matched, both full of young players and missing 4 key players. We should see the two of them back to back on the next USCHO rankings. Both teams should be very proud of how they entertained the crowd tonight, it truely was a "sit on the edge of your seat" game. My thanks and kudos to all the players and coaches. And thanks to you and John for the excellent job you do, very entertaining and informative.
Speaking of informative, do you know what happened to Billy Kasper?
He's in the team picture, but no longer on the roster.
Looking forward to "Hearing" you at the Amherst game Saturday night, hope it is just as exciting as tonight was!:)

Re: PrimeLink Shootout

No doubt - I was traveling most of the weekend and only caught the last few minutes of regulation for the Plattsburgh/Norwich game, but wow...That was quite a shootout. It sounds like both teams had some great back-and-forth action throughout the entire night; what a great way to cap out the Primelink :)

Re: PrimeLink Shootout

Hard to get a read on UW-Stout feeling's wise. The guys know we need a win in the worst way. I look forward to seeing how we respond. Middlebury is still a great team and a national powerhouse, a win today would still be some redemption for our shellacking yesterday.

Norwich is indeed a great team, can't say I know anything about their tender after our dismal shot count. They are going to be good the next few years with these young underclassmen.

Puck drops at 4 p.m. ET

Norwich is......young, fast and talented. This team is all of the aforementioned and well coached. Coach McShane as most know can flat out coach, and he and Coach Mattson did a great job bringing in an extremely talented group that fits the game Norwich plays.....something that they maybe got away from a bit the past year or two. This team is disiplined and that showed this weekend. Yes, they took some penalties but they killed those off by playing disiplined hockey at both ends of the rink, and at times in the past couple of years they took , "stupid" penalties and were not disiplined killing those off and that killed them. And as far as their goaltending, although I will never say that it is great and talented I will say this........ this kid has a ton of heart and extreme character and sometimes that is enough to get teams to where they need to go. NCAA ? Probably not, but as this team matures and adds a missing piece or two, then I think it could become a reality.

I agree...I wasn't complaining about the quality of the broadcast, just that it kept freezing everytime a shootout skater started heading toward the net  !!! I figured the system was probably overloaded and thats why it was happening. I for one will rarely complain about the quality of video work/announcers etc of a webcast because anything is better than nothing at all.

Re: PrimeLink Shootout

Norwich/Plattsburgh

Intertaining game from the drop of the puck in the first period. I have read a few of the comments about players absent, and I am sure that had some effect on both teams. I feel that Pier-Oliver Cotnoir and the other misssing players certainly will make a difference for Norwich. As a Cadet fan I was just happy that Norwich can compete with the likes of Plattsburgh again. For the Norwich freshemen to compete at that level in there fourth varsity game is quite an accomplishment. Just a few comments on the Norwich side. I thought Plattsburgh put a lot of effort in limiting the Kyle Thomas/Eric Siegel line in this game and kept them off the scoreboard. This line is very agressive and has the ability to dominate a game. In the third period Ryan Klingensmith was outstanding. A lot of Norwich players had outstanding games but it was interesting that in the big game the Schroeder twins seemed to bring it up to another level. There work on special teams was very good and position play was outstanding. Was suprised that Norwich's agressive checking during the game didn't slow Plattsburgh down. Maybe someone can explain why Norwich's checking had not much effect on Plattsburgh. One of the most fun D3 games I have watched in some time.

Re: PrimeLink Shootout

Just an observation from the championship game... where the **** was Platty's powerplay? According to Ducky (who may be wrong) they had 1 SOG in 6 PPs through the first 2 periods???

Personally, I felt that Wick's PK did a great job, but it seemed as though the Cadet's PK had more SOGs than Plattburgh's PP.

This is something Plattsburgh OBVIOUSLY has to work on if they want to go the distance this season. Other than this abysmal PP performance, Plattsburgh has nothing to be ashamed of. Norwich has a great team, and a tie is a respectable result. I can't wait until January!

Re: PrimeLink Shootout

Already been mentioned.....and was then told I was not the sceduler.....Adrian will come free of charge with no return game needed....they just want to play...

Re: PrimeLink Shootout

Much Kudos to PrimeLink (a subsidiary of The Champlain Telephone Company who is the sole sponsor of the event) and their CEO, Trent Trahan for establishing the PrimeLink Great Northern ShootOut in 1998.

The decision by the tournament organizers to utilize the event to bring a school from the "Western" conferences to the east is, IMO an excellent contribution to the sport. That said, after Wisconsin-Stout's dismal performance and IMO not indicative of their actual potential, in this year's Primelink, I cannot imagine the bus ride not being a factor.

The Primelink anchors (Plattsburgh, Norwich & Middlebury) have consistently been among the crème de la crème, as such, one cannot easily pass on the opportunity to participate. Hence, the tournament organizers NEED to work with the western schools should they expect them to participate at the top of their game and offer the Primelink stakeholders - the tournament, its participants, players, fans, etc what they deserve in the much hyped event.

The solution? I'm not sure, if flights are too expensive, then maybe at least an extra travel day, maybe something else. But PrimeLink should be able to earn another “Most Innovative” ONYX Marketing Award and come up with something.

Re: PrimeLink Shootout

I think you could have gotten a flight from Milwaukee to Burlington for around $300 each, especially if you booked the flight well in advance. If you figure a 30 in the party, you end up with about 9 - 10K in transportation charges.

I think it may have been cost neutral vs. the bus and intermediate hotels.

I agree, add a "travel" partner/sponsor and you could do MUCH better, there has to be a reasonable/obtainable solution, the Primelink is an incredible event with incredible potential, here is hoping it can continue to live up to its past.

They could invite Adrian - they are used to the travel

Seriously, I like the idea of a Western invitee, but it is telling that a Western team has never won a game in the Primelink out of the 6 opportunities that they have had (3 semis and 3 consis).

It is a great event, and I know it gets a lot of attention.
