Again, frickin' stupid. Can't differentiate between fraud that changes an electoral outcome, and hacking into and then releasing information that influences how people would vote.

You had to translate that? Hell, even I, with my one year of high school French, could parse that one out. It's no "Voulez-vouz couchez avec moi, ce soir", but it's pretty easy, as well as a fairly well known quote.

And c'mon, this is a hockey board. Gotta at least know a smattering of French. Like, say, poutine.

To quote a mediocre comedian: "...for all you dumdums that took French in high school 'cierra la puerta' means 'close the door!' And if you did take French in high school I hope you get stabbed at a taco truck in two years, because millions French speaking people immigrate to this country each year! Stupid * white people!"

In my area, the French 100 years ago were the Spanish immigrants of today. There's probably still lots of people who live here who have French as their native tongue.

Now my sister, who lives in San Diego, told me back when she was a sous chef, that she wished she'd taken Spanish in high school, as it would have helped her out in the kitchen immensely.

All I know is the Voulez-vouz line and "Je suis Batman"

I didn't take French. I took Spanish. French is useless.

hacking dnc or hilly emails is not hacking the election.

In my high school, language choice was class / achievement-coded. Blue collar B students took Spanish, white collar A students took French. It was a real eye opener when I really internalized just how insanely casually f-cked up that is. :eek:

In retrospect I really wish I'd taken Spanish, but Latin (A+ students ;) ) means I can guess a fair amount.

Obviously, and nobody has suggested otherwise. Russia hacked in order to influence the election (successfully -- watch the footage of the Duma applauding Trump's election), but Russia did not hack the vote totals (I don't even know how they could -- the machines are freestanding as far as I know).

But count me among those who would like to see a public inquiry on this. Personally I'm curious just how many times Podesta actually clicked on the AnastasiaDate spear phishing email that was sent to him.

There are networked machines in a few states, I believe, but they've since disabled the networking capacity after people raised a lot of very solid questions about vote integrity. Florida, IIRC, acquired them after their 2000 voting debacle, and the groundswell after people thought about the implications was enormous. People were also concerned with another state's nachines not issuing paper vote receipts for voters to validate their selections and to be used in case of recounts.

If you think the bolded part is some kind of revelation, not one person on here has suggested otherwise. In fact, multiple people have specifically noted that we're not suggesting the votes themselves were hacked.
