Also I highly recommend Pizza Pi on F street just down from the SAAM when in DC. (For pizza, not as a good place for a sex trafficking ring.)

The problem? Both are listening to the voices in their heads that tell them to do evil things.

If you said something like 44 months, well, that'd be about four months before the 2020 election. That's about when I suspect he has it scheduled for. That way he can take a pre-election victory lap* as part of his re-election campaign.

44 months is really tough for me to pick the over/under on. 48 months? Easy. Under, for pre-election.


*With Bush-esque "Mission Complete" hats at the rallies. Merchandising!

For all we know this guy could have been molested as a kid and it was the sex trafficking aspect of the tweet that set him off, and not politics. He may not even know the trigger.

All I'm saying is this. There is a lot of noise out there. Most of us hear it and identify it for the noise it is. A few hear it and think, "jeez, that might be true" or "that sounds about right" and pass it on to their friends, neighbors and co-workers but do not act on it. Let's call the last group the gullible, or easily fooled.

The last, very small but very dangerous minority, hear the noise as a signal to act and follow through on that impulse. Those are the people I believe have a mental disorder, and I characterize as crazy and it's in that last group that I place pizza boy. Those radicalized by ISIS fall in the same group. It's the reason millions of followers of Islam can hear ISIS' noise, but very few hear a signal to act.

Well let me turn it around then. What's the difference between pizza boy and you, me or the millions of other people who can or have read the tweet and were not inspired to go shoot up this particular pizza shop? Don't you ever wonder why that is?

If you don't ask why, and instead just think, "oh, it's that evil Breitbart brainwashing people again" then we are doomed. Because then we're just blaming the message, which leads to acting to stop the message, instead of figuring out why one nonsensical message causes one guy to act in an aberrant way, but no one else.

I get what you are saying, but you are excusing the fact that maybe he is just an evil jerk who was looking for an excuse to open fire on the evil Clintons! You might not like that possibility but it is one.

My girlfriend works in the field, she is as bleeding heart on the issue as you can get so believe me I understand your point. Not all crazy though is a mental disorder and not all crazy is a mitigating circumstance. Maybe he is just not very bright and thought he was doing the right thing. Plenty of people want to take the law into their own hands and believe the ends justify the means. Maybe this was the last straw. (and watched a Clint Eastwood marathon)

Just labeling someone "crazy" is too simplistic...and it paints a wide brush on everyone with mental disorders as possibly violent and dangerous (which is not nearly close to true) while also excusing anyone you deem crazy as unfit to face the consequences which is even more dangerous.

I'm certainly not arguing that my definition of him as "crazy" suggests I think he shouldn't be incarcerated. The legal standard involved to be treated like John Hinckley is sufficiently high that any number of people with mental disorders are still fit to stand trial and be convicted for their offenses. This guy should go away for a long time, and he should get mental health care while he's incarcerated, which will never happen.

It's just my own opinion that nationally, and even here, there seems to be too much focus on the message this guy read and not enough questions about w t f was this guy doing. But that's a natural human impulse. When one of us acts in a aberrant fashion, we look for something to blame, because lack of something to blame is too disquieting. Me, I tend to respond, "meh, the guy was crazy." :)

Trump's bringing in H-2B visa folks. That's a non-immigrant visa program. During the big oil boom there were no workers to hire in western ND. I know some hotels and restaurants would hire students at foreign schools and bring them here for "business internships" (hotel/motel mgmt) under the J-1 visa program. All those folks are coming in legally with a temporary visa.

My question is this: Why can't Trump hire locals? Are they not applying for his jobs (because he's cheap or they already have work)?
