Thing is, I'd wager half of all MAGA supporters aren't at the bottom of that inequality. Like the guy in the article, they're better off than most people.

But their white grievance, the fact that blacks and other races aren't automatically categorized as beneath them, has them feeling like they're some sort of persecuted lower class.

Bunch of whiney azz tittie babies.

Without that other half of poor MAGAs, dump would be in real trouble. We would not be worried about any election if the poor white MAGA's actually looked at what they are saying and thought about it.

Or even any poor republican. It's still really funny to me when ANY republican claims to care about the debt and deficit- when they have been the leading cause of why it's spiraled out of control. How Democrats have not figured out how to counter that lie is a huge flaw on their part.

Many Republicans and their voters would rather have white teenage boys working mines and factories, than brown adult men. Basically, the childhood of two of my great-grandfathers (born in western PA and eastern OH) before they fled to the comparatively good lives of Detroit autoworker and USPS mailman.

You mean the ones who've never turned in an honest day's work in their entire lives.

Sorry, I thought we were still on the Jooz.

Nope. We moved on to the Norwegians.

When that story hit social media a couple days ago the reaction was interesting. While it is an interesting anecdote (one no one should be surprised about btw) it shows the insidious way the media mainstreams Trump as opposed to everyone else. All they do are these stupid stories of rando Boomer in Paluckaville and why his grievances are forcing him to vote for Trump. And it is never a Con writer doing it like David Brooks, it is always someone who is very left leaning trying to understand why stupid people do stupid things like it is some sociology experiment in grad school. Liberals (myself included for a bit) have this weird desire to have to understand the nature of people who do bad things. We do it with criminals all the time. We want to believe we can fix them...like a dumb lead in romantic comedy! So the media keeps telling the same story, which makes Trump look great because the author almost never says anything overtly negative. Meanwhile what you never see is any sort of profile into the average Democratic voter especially not from someone like Brooks. The Cons don't care why people vote Democratic, they just ignore them and try and stop them. They don't meanstream good things about Joe Biden in the hopes of figuring out why they get outvoted in every election. You will never see the NYTimes, Politico or CNN going around talking to Biden voters or left leaning Independents...why is that? Because you can't get much juice out of a headline that reads "Average voter supports candidate who makes their life better".

I like Kruse, I am not blaming him per se because this story is a good look into why the GOP really screwed up this entire nomination process. (and everything since the first Impeachment) But stop telling us the same story over and over again. I don't care that some 60 year old white guy thinks anymore. We know what they think...and while they may be the bulk of the readership/viewership of your crumbling media, they are a smaller demo than the rest of us.

I agree, and noticed this after the 2016 election. NPR was filled with "what makes a Trump voter tick?" stories, earnestly trying to figure out why an (allegedly) otherwise intelligent would vote for that cretin. And it hasn't really slowed down.

Just start challenging people. "But that isn't true. Vaccines work. Covid is real. Trump actually lost." Etc.

Or at least tell them to prove what is not provable. Where is the actual evidence that dumpy won? Not conspiracies, but actual evidence.

Doing the COVID thing is tough, though, since they require 100% perfection for it to be even effective. We've seen that directly on this board, in multiple ways.

I will still challenge anyone who wants deregulation to tell me specifically what they want. And why. It really bugs me when they claim regulations cost jobs, when I made a really strong paying career out of meeting regulations. Among hundreds of others just like me at the same company. I've even pointed out how it's good for jobs for other regulations to be followed, especially when the claim is that jobs move to China. And they are talking about installing hardware on ships that operate in US waters.... But it also ignores that China is piling up environmental regulations at a speed that can only happen in an authoritarian regime.

Anyway, press the specifics vs. the claims. There aren't any.

It never ceases to amaze me why anyone making less than $500,000 a year (or pick another amount - $200,000?) would ever vote for someone like Trump, much less most R candidates outside of a feigned allegiance to religion.

I'm not saying the Democrats have killed it with instituting legislation to benefit the lower classes, but unlike the R's they're not actively seeking to erase them from having any voice altogether.

As Handy said I don't need to understand it and it should not be the focus of running a campaign. But it absolutely boggles my mind.

There is no way to counter a lie people have no interest in knowing the truth about. Hell Nikki Haley said it a month ago and it made no traction. The people who the GOP is courting don't care about the truth unless the truth makes their flaccid pr!cks hard.

I just saw a fairly garbled report but, if I understood it, Dump will face trial (3) when E. Jean Carroll files suit for defamation from comments he made at a press conference during his trial (2) for defamation from comments he made at a press conference during his trial (1) for sexually assaulting her.

Still a long way to go until November, but there are seriously some chinks in Trump's armor of late none of which have to do with his legal troubles. Love to see some of it finally getting some attention.
