The statement has nothing to do with actually being a surroage

Here's the notes from NPR

When he was up for confirmation by his colleagues in the Senate in January, Sessions was asked by Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., what he would do as attorney general about claims that "anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign" was in contact with the Russian government last year.

In his reply, Sessions said in part, "I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I did not have communications with the Russians." He didn't comment on what he would do as the top federal law enforcement officer if anyone from the campaign was accused.

To me, the notation of the surrogate is like the fluff that is in every word problem in math- it's not important. The statement "I did not have communications with the Russians" has no qualifications to it at all- not that it was about the campaign or not- just a simple conversation is claimed to not happen.

If it did, I see that as perjury.

Emphasis mine. There doesn't seem to be much wiggle room there. Still have no idea if this will stick or not. He actually volunteered that information, while avoiding answering the actual question. Fool.

hearing it the same. as a member of the campaign he did not have communications with the russians. certainly as a senator he may have. senators have been on all day saying they have contact with ambassadors of any number of countries. then there are some lessor senators who are saying that nobody calls them. hope that footage isn't used against them in their next run. mookie hopes pocahantas is talking with ambassadors who will bring business to his state.

Listened to Rush for 5 minutes over lunch. You have to give it to the Republicans. They protect their own no matter what. I haven't heard a peep come out of any one of them about this Russia issue at all. Rush has got the full slate defense mode in high gear.

Meanwhile the Democrats will form a circular firing squad. Destroy their own nominee. Destroy the man who came in second place. Destroy the country by not voting.

Just saw a Ted Cruz clip from Morning Joe. Even HE is defending Jeff Sessions. This is the man that lost to the guy who accused his dad of killing John F. Kennedy.

I think TDS yesterday aired a bit of Trump basically admitting the whole, "drain the swamp" bit was a complete crock of s**t used only to rally his base. He also admitted that he can "get presidential" when he needs to but during the campaign he had to act crazy or again the base would be uninterested. Straight up admitted he's full of s**t.

He had surrogates saying that before the Inaugural. "Drain the Swamp" was just another saying to fleece the suckers...

One thing we learned the last 2 years is Cruz is just another boring hypocrite. I'd hoped the reason he was universally hated was that he wouldn't play ball, like Coburn. But no, it turns out he's just as corrupt and sniveling as the rest of the GOP. The reason he doesn't have friends is because he looks like he sucks the eyeballs from babies for nourishment.
