POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

To be fair: we (collectively, regardless of who we voted for) are to blame. While some of the Russia specifics were mere rumor and innuendo, pretty much everything else about Trump is something we knew for a certainty when he was just a candidate.

The inability to form an argument without childish hyperbole, the thin skinned whining, the sensationalist bravado with nothing to support it, the conspiracy theories, the eternal blame for anyone not him, the insistence that he be surrounded by sycophants, and we could go on. This is what he has been his whole life and it absolutely is who he was on the campaign trail.

We don't even need to bicker over traditional conservative v. progressive issues to come to the conclusion that this man is a spectacularly poor choice for a president.

That we allowed him into office says poor things about who we are as American people.
Well done, sir or ma'am. This is the most perceptive thing I've seen here in years. If we're going in the honesty track... if anyone wants to help fix this thing, it's essentially simple: Practice the golden rule. Nobody changes their thinking by being mocked. (I'm as guilty as anyone, but I'd like to try to quit)

#LockHimUp

Interesting that Fox has already cast their lot with Pence. The immediate business of removing Breitbart trumps the mission of reinforcing the Deplorables' Weltanschauung.

It's actually kinda scary that Fox is worried enough about losing the Flag market to Bannon that they're being temporarily responsible and violating their institutional principle of Fluff the Republican.

Freetards have been hating Fox for over a year now, so yes...

If it doesn't agree with the Freep narrative of worshipping "Daddy" Trump, then it's FAKE NEWS!11!!1

I am not talking about Freepers, I am talking about Trump. He praises them all the time...

I don't buy this at all. Trump lies at the feet of his voters. They are to blame. Not the non-voters, and certainly not those who voted against him.

You don't blame a rape equally on the rapist and the victim.

(If you're a Republican you blame it solely on the victim.)

When Fox started to move against him I was thrilled. I think your second point is eye-opening. That they think the right is moving so far to the right that Fox's own model is in trouble is terrifying.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

Robespierre was eventually victim of his own Terror. In a few years Brietbart and InfoWars will be too "lamestream" for the RWNJs.

I'm telling you, maybe it's time to have a mental check on people before they vote. I'm ok with people to the right of Bob, drew, busterman, and sic voting. Much farther right. What scares me is when people think there are reptile people or that Clinton ran a child porn ring in a pizza joint or that fluoride is a mind control agent.

They aren't stable enough to vote.

But, alas, our founders thought we would only get smarter rather than halving our intelligence every generation. So vote these people will.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

That is a terrible analogy Kepler.

And yes everyone is wearing this stink. The only reason Trump had any chance was because both sides are so vitriolic. Lets not forget, the Dems could have stopped this and hundreds of thousands chose not to for reasons so dumb they actually defy logic.

The GOP is responsible for Trump being nominated, but to pretend the Libs arent at least in part responsible for his being elected and for the current disgusting level of hatred amongst the parties is Fox News level echo chamber BS.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

MSNBC had Kasie Hunt in the hallway asking Congressmen about the Press Conference. Every Republican said they didn't see it. Every Democrat was terrified. Draw your own conclusions from that.

I used to assume the inevitable endgame of all this would be the rightwing white nationalist gun-fondlers going full FARC and murdering a few thousand liberals and USG personnel, whereupon everybody else on the political spectrum would band together and snuff them out with air superiority and some good ol' fashion house-house based on Baghdad lessons learned.

But more and more it looks like when they finally go V for Viagra it will be the militia f-kcwits actually purifying the right of those they deem insufficiently fervent in their devotion to The Cause. Same result -- Ruby Ridge writ large and a measurable leap forward for the gene pool -- but with an added stinger in the tail for Republicans who let these criminals in their kitchen because that fine tangy cookin' drew the crowds.

My conscience is clear.

No. Even if I believed it was a good idea (and it is so horrible an idea it sounds like something Jeff Sessions would support) the ease with which some rule like that would be abused is astounding. Just because you think they are crazy doesnt mean you can restrict their vote.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO...ad infinitum.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

Arent those technically "Atomic Holocausts"? ;)

holocaust (lower case h): < noun > destruction or slaughter on a mass scale, especially caused by fire or nuclear war

You just added the adjective.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki were holocausts.

Pretty sure the Founders thought their children would always keep us peasants off the voter rolls. :p

Seriously, who actually had the franchise in 1789? Maybe 2% of the whole country? Even TJ was unmoved by calls for women's rights. Here's a fragrant passage from a delightful site called The Curse of 1920 which is exactly what you think it is:

(American women) have the good sense to value domestic happiness above all other . . . Our good ladies, I trust, have been too wise to wrinkle their foreheads with politics. They are contented to soothe and calm the minds of their husbands returning from political debate. . . . It is a comparison of Amazons to Angels.

I know we have vanishingly few women on USCHO and even fewer on our political threads, but if there are any out there, I guess y'all should be checking your foreheads for wrinkles and asking yourselves, "was suffrage worth it?"
