White people are not randomly pulled over for suspicion of doing something.

People who advertise that they hang out with people who do drugs are.

It's NOT the color of your skin, it's the sticker. That's a HUGE difference.

Once again, you demonstrate some rather interesting stretches of information. Stereotyping from a sticker on your car is the same as the color of your skin. Do you not see how that justifies the illegal bias against minorities?

I didn't say it was the same. "Profiling" doesn't just mean profiling by race. People are profiled more often than one thinks. And none of my friends did drugs when I had my "Deadmobile." So your second statement in your post is actually profiling. You assumed I was hanging out with people who do drugs. ;)

There are people with hispanic decent living in Arizona who have been Americans the same length that Arizona has been part of the US, as a territory. Lets say you are Polish, and the locals know there's a big problem with illegal Poles living in your area. Would you be ok with a random check to make sure you are a citizen???

Once again, you demonstrate that there's zero reason to defend YOUR 2nd Amendment rights, since you are so unwilling to defend any other for people you decide are not worthy.

That is actually how life in Massachusetts is. The police will absolutely check to see if you have a license if they know you have a gun. They would love to lock up gun owners.

No, it's stereotyping. I'm stereotyping that Dead Heads smoke weed.

When cops pull you over based on that assumption, it becomes profiling.

Did you read my post? That's exactly what happened to me a few times. When I had the Deadhead logo on my car, I was pulled over for minor things like "not using a turn signal when switching lanes," etc. Basically masking what the real reason was: "I bet this kid smokes dope."

So yes, I was profiled, and stuff like that happens to more people than you think. At the same level as racial profiling? No. Profiling just the same.

Utilizing a tool to see if it might be possible that the occupant of a car they have stopped has a firearm is just good preparedness. The idea that cops "would love to lock up gun owners" is the part that makes you a moron. One of many parts moronic parts that seem to make up the whole of Drew S it seems. Law enforcement in America in 2017 is one of the true bastions of right-wing thinking. Locking up gun owners -- as long as those gun owners aren't young black men anyway -- is not in their world view.

The mere fact that you are comparing yourself to an African American or Mexican American says volumes. Everything that happened to you was entirely avoidable you know. How would you like it if it wasn't?

Well I most definitely don't think you're a moron. Seriously, I enjoy your posts a lot. I think you are showing a bit of ignorance on Mass politics here though. This is the top law enforcement officer here http://newbostonpost.com/2017/04/07/ag-healeys-gun-directive-being-tested-in-court/ She hates guns and basically made up a law banning certain guns. I agree with you that the average police officer is pro-2a, but that only helps gun owners here so much.

While not scientific evidence, I'm sure you've heard of the expression "the exception that proves the rule."

I am a staunch labor union guy and work for one of the most liberal/progressive unions in North America yet I voted for a republican president in my adult life. What you've linked would be similar to saying "since WeAreNDHockey voted for a Bush, labor union employees must lean to the right in electoral politics." You can always find someone in a liberal organization with conservative leanings, and the reverse is true in conservative organizations.

While never truly representing the cross-section of the American populace, law enforcement USED to be at least a little representative of the mix of American political thought. In 2017 there are a few exceptions, but for the most part law enforcement -- from top to bottom -- has taken an extreme shift to the political right, and not just in the red states.

mookie met a trooper in mass who profiles whites. he pulls them over because they are white. he keeps a list so when he is in court and a lawyer tries to show that his client of color was pulled over due to profile, he would pull out his reports and show how he actually pulls over some crazy % of whites as a majority.

of course he just pulls them whiteys over for that :p

How is that an answer? I grew up at the same time you did. We're supposed to be better than what? What's the gauge? How do you measure human nature?

I would never aver we're where we "should be" even if I thought I knew where we "should be". I'd love to see a lot less racism and misogyny than we do, but that wasn't the point being made. The FACT is we're light years ahead of most of the world on both fronts and it's not even close. The crap I've seen in SE Asia, the Middle East and Africa? It would make your head spin.

Misogyny didn't keep Hillary from the White House - she did.

mookie had to sit through an exchange with a consultant who was brit dot. local asked what he was (the first "ummmm"). guy said 'british'. local was "no. no. where are you from?" guy said "i'm british.". local said "No. i mean where are you FROM?" then added "you need a real british here or nobody will take you seriously".

One thing for certain: Clinton's statement that one-half of Trump's supporters belong in a basket of deplorables, while not good campaign strategy, was dead-on true. In fact, if it's true that 34% still support him, one-half was way low.

edit: The fact that someone voted for him may not be evidence he or she is deplorable. Some people were so desperate for change they could not see what was in front of them. But anyone who continues to support him now would surely qualify.
