POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

Up is down, down is up, the sky is whatever color you want to call it.

Trump, a pretend Presbyterian, believes global warming is natural occurring.

Pope Francis, leader of the once largest anti-science crusaders in world history, declares "God is not 'a magician with a magic wand.'"

And that is why a bunch of American Christians hate the Pope these days. Check out the Twatter response to his posts about Trump...

I had old school nuns and vicious teachers. Learned the most there, but dang.

back in the 60s we had 40+ in each classroom. No problems no beatings after 1st grade (1961/2). In 2nd grade we found out that nuns had legs and hair!

Regardless of the habit (or the Catholic burqua), every nun could turn, fire, and hit the miscreant with the eraser in 1 second or less. (I wonder if they had classes for that in the SSND chapter house).

And we learned. Some of it was useful, some of it would enable me to make a killing in Jeopardy! if I didn't stutter when stresed.

I remember those days fondly.

Huge step for the Church, and more in line with my beliefs. I believe God said, "BOOM!" And then let things just happen naturally. "Let's see how THIS turns out." ;)

I was taught evolution/ big bang theory in Catholic school 20 years ago. That's not new.

And it's really not new coming from a Jesuit priest.

Benedict XVI said the same thing. The Church is not against science. Science without God, though, is a different matter.

Agree the Church is not against science presently, but there's also no doubt it was against science in the past.

And science without God is simply science.

Haha. Really? *Now* the red scare is China?

This... Isn't really news.

China has long been an investor in the US. Buying up media, property, other businesses is just their thing. Pretty sure I was aware of that fifteen or twenty years ago.

If you're just being awoke to the news thanks to Alex Jones, you need to start pulling your head out of the sand. Info Wars is a terrible source for news.

Saw a poll that 81% of Republicans approve of Trump's performance so far.

So all that talk of taking him seriously but not literally, hating executive orders, and otherwise not supporting his more outrageous statements sure seems to just be another "alternative fact."

Confirmation bias.

And huge amount of what was previously closet support is now out, thanks to his win.

I'd love to hear your learned opinion on what exactly the media should be doing.
I think they should get off their a s s and engage in real journalism again. That's why I think it's great they are being provoked, especially by people that I suspect most journalists just personally despise. It's a little sad that this is what it will take to get them to do some real work again, but so be it.

Most journalists do real work every day.

And yet the oppose stem cell research.

And yes, science is science with or without "God".

Sure they do. That's why we got to listen to endless stories on the feud over how many people were at the inauguration. Who cares how many people were there, or what Trump says about it? If he comes out and claims his hands are larger than the average American males' hands, do we get to listen to the media spend weeks attempting to disprove it?

The media reports the easy stories they think will attract eyeballs.

Maybe you're paying attention to the wrong media then?

It goes back to what I've mentioned in other threads and on other subjects. All anyone in America who runs a business cares about anymore is profit. The Republican party and it's plutocratic cronies are turning the United States into a Pure Capitalistic State. This is the result.

When we get back to caring about things other than profit we'll be a better country.
