POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

This administration is just going to keep poking the media bear with a stick until it finally gets off it's a s s for the first time since McCarthy.

There's another aspect to this:

Past administrations cared, worried, about what the media said about them. Past administrations wanted to be liked by the media.

This administration doesn't care what the media says about them or if the media likes them. Heck, this administration ran against the media ... and won. Does anyone think they're going to stop doing what worked? Not a chance; as SJHovey says, expect them to keep poking the bear.

Meanwhile, the media has never seen anything like this before. Someone is in their face and doesn't care what they (media) says or prints about them. The media's normal tools (scathing editorials or harsh advocacy journalism pieces) aren't working. Worse? They may be having the opposite effect this time!

The game has changed but the media is still using their old plays.

The media isn't working anymore because everyone is entitled to their own reality. We live in a post fact world. You could dig up the dirt on Trump's tax returns right now, print it, and all his supporters wouldn't believe a word of it. Even if you had the goods.

When facts don't matter you can do whatever the hell you want.

I think Donald is obsessed with media and the public perception of him. He is also immature and impulsive, so when feels his image is threatened, he strikes out at them. He WILL try to control them.

Is he worried about media? No.
Is he worried about public perception of him? Yes! <-- Protect the brand. <-- Remember what motivates him.

He's certainly preoccupied with his own financial success, but he's also shown he is oversensitive about anything said or written about him and likely to respond in the most childish manner. It's not all brand protection.

There are so many different outlets available everyone can find something that aligns with their beliefs.

Sure. And that in and of itself isn't the issue. The issue is you can find your own facts masked as News. That's a big problem.

He. Is. The. Brand.

Attack him, you've attacked the brand.

Yes, breaking the "quote yourself" rule again ...

Do I believe Trump is playing "four-dimensional chess" as some pundits have claimed? No. Trump is driving but there's no greater vision than what's in the windshield and the grocery list on the dashboard ("The Wall", pipelines, trade deals, other campaign promises).

The Game he's playing (that the media is yet to figure out)? Protect the brand against all comers, including poking back against anyone (media included) that attacks the brand.

Want to worry? Wonder what he's going to do after he lines out what's on that grocery list*.

*Hint: Steve Bannon is looking into an open refrigerator and Reince Priebus is looking in the pantry. Kellyanne Conway is writing up the next grocery list based on what they see and don't see.

He. Is. The. Brand.

Perhaps, but the impulsive and immature nature of his responses compels the conclusion that he is driven by personality issues that have nothing to do with business management. Not exclusively, certainly, but substantially.

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

Who cares how many people were there, or what Trump says about it? If he comes out and claims his hands are larger than the average American males' hands, do we get to listen to the media spend weeks attempting to disprove it?

You're utterly naive if you think it's insignificant that the administration's first press conference was a naked, shameless lie about something with extensive photo and video evidence that proved otherwise. If they lie about that, what can you trust? Certainly not the crime rates Trump cited yesterday in Philadelphia, which were incorrect. But it's all about crafting a set of lies that justifies the awful things they plan to do. So yes, making a big deal of that is critically important.

There's tons of great journalism out there; better than at any other point in history. All the information anyone needed was right there. The fact that you'd rather jerk off to meaningless EMAILZ! stories is your own personal failing.

You're expecting something deeper than "Protect the Brand".

I'll say this nicely: You may have set expectations too highly ... I mean ... "bigly". :D

There certainly is if one has the time and interest. The mainstream stuff doesn't have a lot of quality though and most of them have given up on trying to be unbiased.

To translate: "They're saying stuff I don't like!"

The whole world is operating on its "confirmation biases" right now. Both sides.

And it's not changing until something beyond politics and completely unifying happens.

And yet the oppose stem cell research.

And yes, science is science with or without "God".

Stem cells from aborted babies? Yep. Of course we're going to object. Other stem cells we're fine with.

When you ignore God, there should be a big warning sign that reads "Down this road lies Danger!" There are certain lines that should not be crossed without much reflection and debate.

Now we're mixing animal and human genes to see if transplant organs can be grown. The end justifies the means? Dr. Moreau would approve.

Where does your kid-****ing fit into all of this?
