Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

Stem cells from aborted babies? Yep. Of course we're going to object. Other stem cells we're fine with.

When you ignore God, there should be a big warning sign that reads "Down this road lies Danger!" There are certain lines that should not be crossed without much reflection and debate.

Now we're mixing animal and human genes to see if transplant organs can be grown. The end justifies the means? Dr. Moreau would approve.

The vast, vast majority of stem cell research is performed with stem cells taken from adults. My nephew performed research using those very stem cells at UW Madison until moving back to MN, he would talk about the research with me when asked.

Then I'd call him a baby killer. :)

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

This administration doesn't care what the media says about them or if the media likes them.old plays.

Is he worried about media? No.

Are you serious? He's already said he can't enjoy his time in the Whitehouse because of the media. Are you going to tell me not to take him literally again? Because you tried that and it turns out you were....wait for it....

Wrong!

To translate: "They're saying stuff I don't like!"

No, I don't have a problem with stuff I don't like as long as it's factually accurate. To me, the MLK bust story showcased two things that really irritate me about today's media; they were wrong and they were gee'd up to make a big story out of nothing. I really could care less how Trump or any other president decorates the Oval Office/White House.

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

You're utterly naive if you think it's insignificant that the administration's first press conference was a naked, shameless lie about something with extensive photo and video evidence that proved otherwise. If they lie about that, what can you trust? Certainly not the crime rates Trump cited yesterday in Philadelphia, which were incorrect. But it's all about crafting a set of lies that justifies the awful things they plan to do. So yes, making a big deal of that is critically important.

There's tons of great journalism out there; better than at any other point in history. All the information anyone needed was right there. The fact that you'd rather jerk off to meaningless EMAILZ! stories is your own personal failing.
There are great, important stories out there being written. But they are being buried by the avalanche of white noise created because people like you think it's "critically important" to prove Trump is lying when he says his inauguration set attendance records. No one cares about whether it's true, or whether you can prove to the contrary. Furthermore, no one should care since it's meaningless. It would be like Trump claiming that interior designers are unanimous in proclaiming his White House decorations are the most fashionable ever.

Some day he's going to get up and proclaim that he just took the biggest s h i t ever taken in a White House toilet and you guys are going to spend two weeks trying to prove he's lying about it.

The effect of all of that will either be the media will miss the really big, important lies because they are simply too busy working on the other forty, or when the really big one does come along and gets reported, its effect on the public will be, "meh."

But, by all means, proceed. It's worked great to thwart this clown thus far.

LOL. The crowd size isn't the story. It's the lying. And it's important.

White noise was EMALZ and BENGHAZI.

Embryonic stem cells don't come from aborted babies. They come from unused frozen embryos (that are going to be discarded anyway).

but you won't see this because you blocked me because you can't handle seeing a few asterisks in my posts...

Since when is discarded frozen embryos not another form of abortion? (I guarantee that's what the pro-lifers feel)

this has me thinking...

if we can't use stem cells from frozen embryos because joe says it is 'murder', does that mean we need to keep those embryos frozen forever? (so in 1000 years they will still be sitting in some freezer) Who pays for that long after the couple that was using in vitro fertilization is dead? Should a couple have to offer up their unused fertilized embryos for 'adoption' by someone that will either keep them frozen forever, or implant them into a host?

why aren't they protesting fertility clinics?

I guarantee 'pro-life' conservative Christians have used in vitro fertilization, and have fertilized more embryos than they ended up implanting.

1. The Mexicans will pay for it. Same irrational logic the Right uses for everything they spend money on.
2. Yes, those embryos are human beings. They either need to used, adopted, or frozen forever. Or we can just outlaw freezing them in the first place.

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

Guys, if you don't understand why the "little" lies matter so much, watch the short Ezra Klein/Vox video on FB, he nails it. Trump is initiating a strategy of delegitimitizing the media. The same way it's been done in China, Russia, etc. it matters a lot.

Not if the embryo sues for child neglect like Sofia Vergara's did.

Wrong!

Donald Trump cares more about:

(a) the media
(b) The Brand

Hint: it's not (a)

He's not enjoying his time in the White House so far because of the media ... (wait for it, wa-a-a-a-ait for it) ... daring to challenge The Brand.

It's all about Trump. The Brand is Trump. Trump is The Brand. Challenge it and the snarl will follow.

Donald Trump is the veer offense in a world of between-the-tackles power football. Or (more appropriate here) the torpedo system in a left-wing lock world.

He's also actively running a strategy to de-legitimize government. It started with his thinking that he's not going to accept the results if he loses and there's the whole voter fraud thing- with no evidence. Plus, telling the CIA that they are full of it when it comes to russian hacking.

Right this moment, I would say that if he loses at all in the next election, he will lawyer up to remain the president- further dragging down our government system.
