Exactly. I don't recall seeing shirts with the c Or b word at dem rallies lately only republican ones. But I'm sure one or two did and someone can find a google link.

Now...Hillary would lose anyways because there is no name more divisive than Clinton outside of Bush. I said that in '08 when she ran and I said it up until she got the nomination. Half the country has hated her and her husband since the 1990s and that fire has been stoked as she has positioned herself for this run over the years. If she was Hank Clinton the Clinton part would still have killed her. But no matter who the woman is there will be push back and it will be significant. The backlash that resulted AFTER Obama took office (the normalization of the Far Right) would be just as intense as [insert woman here] got closer and closer to the nom. Every time she spoke passionately they would be called a "B" or a "C" (much like some called Obama uppity) and unless she served in the military they would definitely downplay how a female could lead such a group of macho men. (unless she is hot, then she can at least pose with guns on covers of magazines) They would attack her looks, her family...everything and the media would eat it up and go right along with it. And it isnt like women would all support her either...there is a large contingent of women who believe misogyny is warranted.

To defend myself from being labeled a misogynist a bit, I didn't support Obama the first time for the same reason. He hadn't been a leader of anything. I thought his inexperience was a major issue. I turned out to be wrong. He was a great leader.

To your other point, I think Warren does important work. I just think she'd be a terrible candidate for president. She is simply not electable. Therefore, I can't support her. I'm not sure I could support anyone who publicly admits his or her favorite curse word is 'poop'. :rolleyes:

I want someone who can actually win.

I kind of see Palin as just hopelessly out of her league and stupid. Bachman? Yeah, crazy. She should be from Alabama, not a state full of moderate, sensible folks.

There are a lot of gopher hockey fans there though, come to think of it.

Bingo. The AMA and AARP seem to believe the rates for those effected are going to be pretty dang high. Also those people in Red States with Diabetes or Hypertension better start saving because whoa nelly they are going to be in trouble. States can get the waivers promised in the current bill ONLY if they have the high risk pool.

The Insurance companies should be happy as hell, they are going to make easy extra bank on this when it passes.

Elections have consequences...enjoy it Red Staters!! :D Pass the bill! REPEAL REPEAL REPEAL!!!!

If all those GOPers will forswear any campaign contributions or lobbying benefits from big tobacco, big sugar, processed food giants, and alcohol, then their commitment to protecting health while saving health care $$ might be more convincing. Walk into any fast food restaurant or convenient store in this country and you can see why health care will never be truly affordable until we adjust the way we consume food and drink. Exercise too, but diet first. Michelle Obama's advocacy for healthier foods in schools probably did more to address the true root problem than we give her credit for. Chronic diseases and their connection to diet: that's where the battleground should be. But there is too much money being made off of addictive junk for that to happen.

I've read or heard that over and over from righties. She ruined their kids' lunches.

I remember when a bunch of Righties around here tried spouting off that nonsense. To them apparently advocating for healthy school lunch was equal to Socialism and I am not speaking with hyperbole.

I wonder if Scooby is as pumped about this as I am? This plan is going to pass because they will use the high risk pools to cover for the fact that they are going to price people with pre-existing conditions right out of the market. My guess is the CBO will still show high numbers of people will get screwed but it wont matter. Give the Trumpers and the Righties everything they have begged for...the wasteland we become will be reminiscent of the wasteland Trump pretends America is right now. The Recession is coming, companies that love him like Carrier and Boeing are cutting jobs and still outsourcing and the mining jobs dont seem to be on the rise. Cutting taxes but spending like he is leads to only spot...and now the poor who love him not only will be poor but they will have no economic assistance and no health care. I want to feel bad but I dont. This is what they wanted :)

REPEAL REPEAL REPEAL! CUT THOSE TAXES!!! SPEND SPEND SPEND!!! I am a White Middle Class Man in a State with a high standard of living (for now...the GOP in this state is trying to screw all that up) I will be just fine. I sure hope all those people in Cleetusville, Pennsyltuckhoma dont get too used to living high on the hog :D

You said that in jest, Fade, but you are right; people do have the right to eat whatever they want and how much they want. But we could take an approach similar to the way we've handled tobacco: warn people and educate them. We don't just eat too many twinkies and snicker bars for the sugar, we eat too much of everything for the sugar. Because it's in everything, and it's in everything so we'll keep buying it. It is probably safe to say that what we put in our food kills more people in a month than islamic jihadists have killed in our entire lifetime. It also makes universal healthcare unaffordable under anybody's plan. The burden of all that ill health is just too great.

We don't have to demonize our own companies and our own people who are involved in them, but we can educate and we can use the power of taxation (though that ends up being a legal question, I suppose) to modify our eating habits. Until we fight that battle, the other ones will rage on with no end in sight.

I really think my parents did a hell of a job raising two kids, but if there is just one thing I wish they did, I wish they pushed us to eat better. I'm doing it now, but it took 28+ years to get me to eat a salad regularly.

They kept us extremely active with sports so we could get away with that while we were younger. But it starts to catch up on you when you get older.
