POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

As great as this march is, and it really is, I would think, in the future, that these marches would be more effective if they were done in areas where Trump got his votes. I'd imagine that a few thousand women, people of color, LGBTQ, etc. marching through some rural county seat in West Virginia or Ohio or Alabama would do more.

and that's why you are not planning this :p

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

why does it amaze you they are fixated on the s*ht show going on on their boarder? Maybe what the Canadians do is inconsequential to you, but American politics affects them greatly.

plus, what else is going on up there :D

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

I was not comfortable at all with the riot against the inauguration (seriously, you're burning cars and smashing windows to oppose "the peaceful transfer of power"? Stop and think about that). But now it's done, and Trump needs to be constantly reminded of the will of the people. He'll get it on the news. Go nuts. Speak up. Join in. Be heard.

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

Jezebel has a round up of Tweets related to the march. Seems the metro system is overloaded. Way more than it was for the inauguration.

tells mookie the peeps attending the gala could afford hotels

There are marches everywhere - there's one in Houghton today (and yes, I hear both women are attending) but obviously they won't all get national coverage and there are problems with getting a million people into somewhere like Des Moines on a certain day. Visibility is the first goal.

I totally can't wait until the @POTUS Twitter account starts blocking people because of his thin skin. :D

It appears that even his inaugural cake was a duplicate. From a mere four years ago!

I'm aware that visibility is the goal and why this is taking place. What I'm saying is, in the future that would probably be a better goal.

"Those people" wouldn't understand. All they hear is the echo chamber yell how Planned Parenthood doctors ONLY go elbow deep into women's vaginas, rip out their precious third trimester babies, throw the loving child into a meat grinder and slap an Oscar Meyer logo on the package. They don't understand that PP may be the cheapest and safest option for women to get checked out for non-baby related items. They don't give two sh*ts that ZERO federal dollars are spent on the very rare abortions that do take place at Planned Parenthood. They don't want to hear your dirty liberal mouth talk about how women can use PP to have their routine gynecological exams, or check for breast cancer, or check for other issues.

A million women marching through Des Moines, IA; Sioux Falls, SD; Moline, IL; Poplar Bluff, MO, or Parkersburg, WV isn't going to make a difference. Because to those people, all these women represent are "rich, smug, liberal elitists that are trying to ruin our way of life!"

.... Even if they benefit directly from what these women stand for. See: Red counties happy that Obamacare is going away. And subsequently shi**ing their pants over losing insurance.

I wonder what the self described anarchists do when they're not out anarching?

I think the opposite. We have to challenge "those people" and their beliefs. We have to get out there and physically show "the America that you think you see is not the only America that exists." Part of that is you empower the local people who are liberal/POC/LGBTQ and help them speak to their community and further break that bubble.

I had the thought while looking at the Jezebel pictorial and seeing an older woman from Pennsylvania who had worked in a steel mill, went on maternity leave and while out the mill closed, and rolled her eyes saying " Trump is bringing that mill back." How much more effective would she be speaking to crowd in her town versus Michael Moore rambling on?

Sign MVP from the March in Anchorage:
"MY NECK
MY BACK
MY P**** WILL FIGHT BACK!"

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

Couldn't be in DC or St Paul so I marched in Madison today. It was amazing. There had to be 30,000+ there. State Street was full shoulder-to-shoulder from the capitol back over a mile away. The capitol grounds were absolutely packed.

This is an amazing showing from the entire world.
