POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

I wish more reporters would speak up like Tom Brokaw just did. Brokaw pointed out that Obama didn't leave the nation teetering like it was under Bush->Obama transition. The economy, while it's not like it was in the '90's or 2000's, was much improved in the last eight years and that benefited many people like Trump.

No offense, but that's an absolute load of horse****. It's not a virtue to say "Let's compromise and say it's all good because that cop didn't murder the infant in the back seat of Philando Castile's car too". Or to say "Well, some poor people get to vote, so that's good enough". If you think believing in basic tenets like equality make one "spoiled rotten", then I think the problem is with you.
You're talking about policy positions, and I understand your anger, but I'm talking about people and the utter hatred of everyone who doesn't agree with me. Shouldn't we be willing to at least not nuke the states of people with different opinions? I hear these comments all the time, from educated people. Minds are poisoned with hate and fear when there's no point to it. It won't help. People are completely unable to accept diversity nowadays.

wait

mookie would say w left it for bho. that was a timed change and no matter what the situation was there was going to be a transition anyhow. in no way was it a "haha, your problem" as this implied.

There's not one single point at which the parties switch sides. They both made gradual movements, largely starting at the very early points of the 1900s, and completed the switch around the passing of the ERA. If you search the web, you can find some pretty interesting and objective historical blogs on this subject.

I was referring to the area. :)

Chuck Todd pointing out that a Trump supporter just said on their broadcast that she was "happy that Trump spoke of God and had different clergymen up there, it hadn't happened in the last eight years," and Chuck Todd stated that it just wasn't true, it's the same exact thing they just did four years ago, eight years ago, twelve years ago, and he's heard Obama mention God during many speeches. This seems to be an information divide that leads to there being two different Obama presidencies: Obama's actual Presidency, and what people think was Obama's Presidency.

Brokaw chimed in quickly that while he "isn't up on the new technology, there are people who are likely virtually high-fiving the new president and each other while then saying that 'those yahoo's on NBC; Lester, Chuck, Tom, don't have a clue what's going on in 'our' America!' and those people are the misinformed ones."

The biggest change in America the last 16 years or so is you are now entitled to your own facts. There is no way polarization is ever going away now that that has cemented itself into our politics.

Is it just me, or was there a lot of "more of the same" during the inaugural address from what we heard on the campaign trail?

Exactly. Today, Trump's campaign..er..inauguration speech confirmed that throughout his presidency he'll continue ignore the Moynihan Rule and rely on "this is so....because I say so."

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

Interesting hearing NBC's take on the inauguration. Lester Holt said he was noticeably squirming during Trump's speech, and Chuck Todd said that it was almost a slap to every living president who was sitting next to Trump.

This was my take as well, watching it online with no commentary.

I've been seeing the hashtag #DayOne on Twitter a lot the past few hours. Guess they didn't hear President Trump say Day One is on Monday.

Did we forget the rules? Like everything else in America, black clergymen don't count.

< walks back from window >

Well, Mr. Trump is President and I don't see four really ****ed off dudes on horseback coming over the horizon.
Did they put the apocalypse on hold until Monday too?
