Potter out at Ohio State

You're confusing two situations.

Shelfit's quote was a reference to what Handrahan had purportedly said to OSU players according to several OSU players at the time of or just prior to his dismissal. No connection to Shannon Miller/UMD at all.

Correct!

So how can they hire anyone new without publicly posting the job opening first? I thought there were rules about that. Does anyone know the rules about this?

Saw the job posted last week on Ohio States website. Not sure how long it's legally required to remain up.

Actually I believe Shelfit's is quoting from comments attributed to former UMD Coach Miller herself as reported by former players. If you look back at some of the articles regarding Miller's contract not being renewed and the lawsuit she has filed for wrongful termination you will find those exact words.

Sorry, my bad

Re: Potter out at Ohio State

It seems that women's hockey is not high on the priority list of whoever maintains ohiostatebuckeyes.com. The only thing new with the women's hockey section of the website is they have removed all the coaches from the roster and they do have this season's schedule up. The roster itself has not been updated as last year's seniors are still included. I also noticed the exhibition game vs the Toronto Jr Aeros originally scheduled for 9/22 appears to have been canceled as it does not appear on the schedule.

An update on the site….not a lot of info. but a new Roster. Looks like a number of transfers incoming, Freshman and some outgoing players as well who had eligibility. Disappointing to lose a couple of strong players for whatever reasons they chose to leave. Hopefully once a coached is named some more info. on the new additions will be forthcoming.

Curious. Who were the players that transferred out and where did they end up?

Re: Potter out at Ohio State

From what I am seeing the girls that transferred out are:
Dana Rasmussen (St. Cloud State)
Bryanna Neuwald (Graduated but had a year of eligibility - Ottawa)
Alexa Ranahan (University of British Columbia)
Claudia Kepler (Wisconsin)

Thanks. I am guessing Kepler and Rasmussen must sit a year due to WCHA transfer rules?

Re: Potter out at Ohio State

If the rumors are true, then having lost your job due to recruiting irregularities doesn't make you a hot commodity for another NCAA coaching job.

Frost should hire JP when Muzzerall leaves.

He'd be an idiot to hire a person who would be after his job. We're not talking about a nice person here who would just keep to her role as an assistant coach. She won't be satisfied with just being an assistant.

Unless it's SEC football or you're <strike>Rick Pitino</strike> John Calipari.

Those are situations where $$$ drives the decision-making process. Granted that even in non-revenue sports like women's hockey, there are people who may be willing to try to make a splash by whatever means because they don't plan to remain at that institution very long. Having been at Minnesota for 16 seasons and already having made that type of splash, Frost is unlikely to be one of them.

Re: Potter out at Ohio State

I saw on twitter a goalie committed to OSU and they have no coach; interesting. One would think you'd want to know who you were playing for.
