Potter out at Ohio State

Re: Potter out at Ohio State

I'll let the OSU folks speak for themselves, but I have known for...ever that they are the Scarlet and Grey.

You're close ... our official colors at tOSU are Scarlet & Gray. We're located in the USA, not Great Britain, so it's Gray, not Grey.

Anything east of Lake Michigan is pretty much Great Britain. I love how you Britain's spell tyres.

Re: Potter out at Ohio State

It's good to have a sense of humour about the spelling of one's favourite colours.

I had no idea grey vs gray was such a divisive issue. I thought it was just a Crayola ploy to drive up sales. I'm not sure about the historical basis for calling red "scarlet" anyway. At least a cardinal is red, though I can't tell you if it's the male or female cardinal.

Back to hockey! Osualum - you seem to be close to this team. Understanding that JP was relatively popular with the majority, what is the local opinion on the new staff? Are the recent changes viewed as an upgrade? The team plays in a few weeks and playing RPI is probably a good test for this young team. It will be interesting to see how they react.

I would say OSU ended up with an upgrade for sure. Did Muzz apply last year when Potter was hired? I wonder if not, why would she have applied for the job now (jumping off a sinking ship, eh)? I also wonder who else applied for the job this time around.

Thanks for asking, Puckdrop. I haven't actually talked to any of the girls lately, but in talking to other fans, I think most of us view Coach Nadine and her staff as an upgrade. I was as excited as anyone about the hiring of Jenny Potter last year, but you can't violate NCAA rules. I don't buy into the contention by some that this didn't have anything to do with rules being broken and was all about her coaching style, the results on the ice, and the players that left. When your school has had issues in the recent past with the NCAA, you don't have the luxury of ignoring violations. I hated to see Jenny get let go, but you have to follow NCAA rules. I am actually looking forward to the season now that we have a coaching staff in place. There is talent here and I am hoping Coach Nadine can mold that talent into a winning program. It will be a couple weeks before I see the team in person as I am not making the road trip to RPI. I will be in Madison for those games on 10/7 and 10/8. Maybe I will run into Timothy A and some other Badger fans on here.

By all means say hey to me pregame or in between periods. I sit behind the opposing bench with my daughter Maddy. We hope to have others with us if it works out. I wear a women's home jersey and a red felmet. You may not want to sit too close to me, however, I get a little loud and maybe a tad over the top once and awhile, all on good fun of course. Being the first home series I may be extra jacked up.

I will try to find you. Shouldn't be hard, right? A little loud and a tad over the top once in a while? That sounds like someone else I know ... me! :D

Awesome! Most women's fans are far too quiet and polite, golf clapping for the opponent during the intros...not me, it's the old sieve chant. Should be fun but I'm hoping you don't have much to cheer about. :)

I haven't had much to cheer about in Madison in recent years. Hopefully that will change. :)
