Plattsburgh State Hockey 2014-15 - Bob's 26th work in progress ...

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2014-15 - Bob's 26th work in progress ...

Yes, I agree the right one...

+1

...and I don't even like women's hockey

Now if the PSUC admin didn't want to fork out the $$$ to move the men's and women's practices to the other rink to allow Trinity/Nichols a practice slot, shame on them. I still believe the NCAA stuck their nose up and said "No Sunday game. No different practice site (even for the hosts) Pick men's or women's and have a nice day"

Thats crazy folks, Sorry to hear the news tonight on Channel 5 as well. Wow thats a tough one to swallow.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2014-15 - Bob's 26th work in progress ...

Well, one possible bright side: Trinity's rink is 200x90. Emery likes the bigger rink, right? I couldn't find anything out about the Nichols rink...

With an average attendance of right around 100, it's not surprising lol seeing how Emery was unavailable for comment, I'm starting to think they poked the Lion...

My guess is, due to the emotions on the team, you're going to see either the absolute best performance by Plattsburgh in years, or the absolute worst.

Also, I'm hearing rumors that some of the men have voiced how PO'd they are at the women's team for "taking away their home ice". Boys, you have a right to be upset, but if your anger is directed at the Lady Cardinals, you've got it all wrong...

I hope the men are smarter than this. If the tables were reversed (the men hosting a final against the women hosting an early round matchup) that the women would be on the road). Be mad at the NCAA and take it out on either Nichols or Trinity! Then take the anger west to Minnesota!

When you have something you worked for ripped out of your hands, there is bound to be some animosity. I think we all had our WTH moment when the announcement came out. There is no doubt the Men's program is THE sport of SUNY Plattsburgh, and that's not to discount the women at all. But there is a reason why the women only average 450 free seats and then men 1700 paid seats...having said that the right decision was made based on what Plattsburgh had to choose from thanks to the NCAA....

Perfectly said.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2014-15 - Bob's 26th work in progress ...

I just hope that this very real situation will finally convince the appropriate "decision-makers" to consider (and approve) combining the Division III Men's and Women's Championships into one weekend, at the same venue.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2014-15 - Bob's 26th work in progress ...

I don't know if having everything all one weekend at the same venue would help but at the very least they should do with the Women's like they do with the Men's and name a venue well in advance and preferably a natural site, if possible, like Lake Placid. This would make everything much easier to figure out when universities have multiple teams heading into the NCAA playoffs.

NO WAY IN **** Plattsburgh is #1 in Women's attendance at around 450. They've had ONE Championship game with over 2,000 fans. Lake Placid a. has the ECAC DI Tourney going on and b. would lose soooo much money with no fans in the stands. There is a simple solution to it all, be more flexible in your dates to include Sunday. There is no reason a Friday men's game or Sunday's men's game couldn't have worked. Make the reffs get their 1 hour of required practice an hour earlier and have the men's and women's reffs skate together. Now if this was two Final Fours accidentally running into one another, yes a cluster. Its ONE extra game. Maybe the women's tournament needs to abandon the "consolation" game like the men have for years now...that would have freed up enough time....

Yes, I agree the right one...
Good luck to the girls,no problem with that and the team deserving home ice, but NO, the RIGHT decision was not made for the men, the coaches and the loyal Cardinal fans. One can Never say THAT was the right decision nor accept that judgment as fair. This must have been recognized by all PSU addmin/NCAA, that this was a very good possibility of what could occur and perhaps then alternatives should have been considered 2 weeks, last week, days ago. What came first, the chicken or the egg or who laid one?? Good luck to both teams . You have our support.

Emery was out for dinner with his staff for coaches appreciation night and got the voicemail too late. Truth.

There still hasn't been anything from him was my point and I'm sure all you will get is the PC media response, which I highly doubt was his real opinion on it (more the NCAA's decision not Plattsburgh's). Behind the walls I doubt he is happy and hence "poked the Lion". Having said that there comes a time when you face reality, move on, and use it to your advantage. Something Bob is one of (IMO the best) at.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2014-15 - Bob's 26th work in progress ...

I would concur Remy with your thoughts. Coach Emery has been around too long and is too wise NOT to use this as a motivational tool. Perhaps the Cards can win it all and give the ole one finger salute to the NCAA in the process.
