Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men’s hockey team will host the 2001 National Championship Reunion Luncheon on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. in the Angell College Center Ballroom.

Members of the 2001 National Championship team will be on-hand to relive the event and recount their memories from this historic season. Present and past members of the Cardinal Hockey team will also pay tribute to former Cardinal, Mike Daoust, who lost his battle with cancer this past summer.

Tickets for the luncheon are $20 per person, with checks made payable to Plattsburgh State Hockey. Seats at the luncheon can be reserved by calling the Plattsburgh State Hockey Office, (518) 564-3607, by noon on Thursday.

The ’01 National Champions and Daoust will also be recognized in a pregame ceremony prior to Saturday’s game against Brockport, which is set for 7 p.m. at the Stafford Ice Arena.

The Cardinals will wear “Special Event Jerseys” for this game, which will be auctioned off immediately after the conclusion of the game in a live auction with proceeds going to the Mike Daoust Fund.

unfortionately they don't sell tickets until 5:30 the day of the game. so unless you can find someone with season tickets that won't be using them you'll have to take the chance.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

About what time would someone have to get in line to be guaranteed a ticket reasonably?

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

I've seen people in there as early as 9 a.m., but there's no guarantee what time the building will open, but if general admission runs out, they will distribute standing room tickets. Since the arena has re-opened after construction, no one has been turned away from any game. Standing room will be distributed on a pretty much unlimited basis barring a 4,000 person demand for tickets.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

Your women are also here that day for a $5 admission going to a breast cancer foundation, but I realize getting out of line would defeat the purpose of being here that early.

There WILL be tickets available at 5:30, they are $8 (usually $5, except the Primelink ($12), Cardinal Classic ($10) & Oswego). Men's basketball game is away (New Paltz), so that WON'T help, and the women also play Oswego at 3pm (best bet - go to the women's game at 3 - there is usually NO charge for women's games - but this is "Pink the Rink" game and a $5 admission charge to go to the cause will be charged and get your Men's ticket afterwards).

Note that while the Residence halls open at 11am, MANY students will wait until Sunday to return from Winter break, so this WILL help.

Being that the box office will be open for the women's game, tickets MIGHT be available then, try giving them a call (518) 564-4062.

I wish Plattsburgh State sold "standing room tickets only" in advance. That would boost the attendance for sure.

Why do they need to sell them in advance if Trots even said unless they get more than 4,000 people there, no one will be turned away?

For Everyone's Information: Standing room tickets DO NOT mean a spot on the railing. They mean a spot standing BEHIND the people on the railing. Some rail spots are sold, but they are sold as rail spot tickets. Those are not what standing room seats are.

I figured as much. :)

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

People don't want to wait in line all day to get tickets...nor do they want to get into the arena after the puck drops due to the long line for standing room only tickets. I can name several family members and friends who are not going because they are unhappy with how the system works.

Think about it. Why don't we have 3,200 fans at this game anymore? It can be done, but casual fans HATE the arena after construction and the ticket policy. They don't want to be told "where" to sit and they certainly don't want to stand. Say what you will, but this according to what I hear on campus and in the community.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

Actually. Prezde, answer that question for me. Why don't we get 3,200 people at this game anymore when it is certainly possible according to Trot and PSUC?

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

It's probably because you HATE all Oswego fans.

Prez, thanks in large part to your track record, you are revered among the Plattsburgh faithful!!!

It is true that "standing room" means you can NOT sit in a seat or stand at the rail both of which are reserved. BUT, there WILL be reserved tickets available at 5:30pm, perhaps NOT the best seats in the house, but there will be SOME seats. In practice, a standing room seat will, unlike in Oswego, grant you access to ANY area, if you wait until after the first stoppage of play and find some empty seats (there are ALWAYS a lot of missing season ticket holders - vacations, etc), you can sit in the seats until someone with a ticket for that seat happens to show up.

Nevertheless, I find it nothing more that laziness or incompetence, that Plattsburgh can't enter the 21st century and offer advance ticket sales.
