Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

In an attempt to shed the church like atmosphere Cardinal fans are complaining about, Plattsburgh State has booked Lady GaGa for opening night. The school will also hand out discosticks for the game. :p

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

Regarding artificial noisemakers.... Since he is a member of the NCAA DII Men's Ice Hockey committee, I would imagine he would be expected to follow the NCAA's guidelines (IMO).

We've been down this road a million times. The NCAA DIII Men’s Ice Hockey committee rules and regulations allows for artificial noisemakers. It clearly stats "while the game is in progress" which no one argues, and those of us with horns always stopped when the puck dropped..home and away...and that is the NCAA and SUNYAC guidelines which comes from the NCAA Rules Committee Interpreter.

You mention his role in the NCAA Division III committee, all the more reason he should respect his constituents, and either present a simple yet definitive explanation why hockey is so much different than most sports, where a plethora of artificial noisemakers flourish or help change the rules.

What's even better is that per the NCAA Rule book they are allowed during the regular season (just not during play) yet not allowed during championship weekend. When I asked the NCAA head hancho two years ago why are noisemakers not allowed during hockey games, but are allowed at other sporting events she told me that artificial noisemakers are not allowed at ANY NCAA Championship venue. Seems funny I remember hearing and seeing a whole bunch during March Madness.... The reasoning she gave is that they want their Championship events to be as neutral as possible.... Please whats next....Team A's fans are louder then Team B's, so half of Team A's have to alternate cheering...Or Team A has twice as many fans as Team B, so some of Team A's fans have to move to Team B's side and cheer for the opposing team.

It also clearly states about throwing objects on the ice at any time.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

What:confused: does the AD have to do with fans who sit on their hands? What is the obsession with noise makers? They can't cheer and clap their hands? Seems to be some type of derangement syndrome.

The townies are getting old up in Plattsburgh, NY. They all have arthritis and can't clap. That fanbase needs some new blood.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

Your point is? Both Oswego and Plattsburgh has haulted the tradition. Of which was another PSU tradition Emery liked at one time as it was something that brought more people to the games.

The Aud has giant signs on both sides of the arena that say no noise makers, weapons of any kind, drugs etc....But every game last season, and every season that i can remmeber, fans have always brought noisemakers to the UC games, and the Aud doesen't even care! But they shouldent,To take away their noisemakers would just be un-friendly.You got to have people get into the games and let them have their noisemakers to pump up the teams after a big goal or a late hit etc....

Utica also last season had more than 11 home games(out of their 18 home games) that had some kind of promotion where they handed out Noisemakers, clapers, cow bells,etc...So why does the Aud keep those signs up in the lobby and inside the arena? Maybe Plattsburgh(since their so tired of waving their towels, and clapping their hands),should go and take a few tips on game day promotions from UC!!! ;) :D :)

You sound like you speak for the majority, is that what you are claiming? I'm certain you will NEVER find a case where I made such a claim, without a source. As I have noted in the previous posts, I try to make it a habit to use IMHO (In My Humble Opinion) whenever I am stating my opinion. Is it your opinion that " the comments made on this topic DO NOT represent the majority of the Plattsburgh fan base" or are you GOD or otherwise privy to information that can back up your statements, if not, than please provide proof or clarify the comment, I believe it should read:
"Please be aware, everyone, that the comments made on this topic DO NOT represent ME and in MY OPINION, THEY DO NOT the majority of the Plattsburgh fan base.”

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

In some sad news: Former PSU and OSU coach Herb Hammond loses his battle with cancer.

Former Plattsburgh State men’s hockey coach Herb Hammond succumbed to cancer Wednesday night, passing away with friends and family surrounding him in his home.

Hammond coached the Cardinals to back to back NCAA National Championship appearances in 1981 and 1982.

He earned NCAA Division III Coach of the Year honors after leading PSUC to a 27-4-2 record in 1981.

I was thinking something along the same lines Norm but I decided to stay out of it and let the Platty fans go at it:cool:

I was thinking the same thing and decided to go along with you PrezdeJohnson09. :)

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

Read all about it...

Cardinals boost season tickets and 2009-10 schedule released

First match-up: Saturday, Oct. 17- CONCORDIA-MONTREAL (exhibition), 7 p.m.

Should be a great exhibition game; good job there by bringing an old school, 80s-90s regular season opponent back! Definitely looking forward to that. How about we take a page out of the ECAC book and have an afternoon start time for the Halloween game (help out us trick or treater Dads a little??)

two things..... You could drop the H and save a keystroke (let's face it, you are anything but humble in your opinions).

Remember, the bigger the donation, the louder the voice. Try that approach.

How can you talk about facts, when part of your posts are based on name calling again and again.

Name calling? As in calling him Brucey? My whole family calls my uncle John, Johnny, I guess I'm at a lost of what you are talking about, but as it is "again and again", I'm sure you should be able to point out several examples. Also, I won't quote facts without a source.

BTW, I really like the name Brucey

Ok, Rumble might be better than Humble.:o

As for the donation end, I'll admit, I do send more to Cobleskill than Plattsburgh, but I always make the donations anonymously (IMO - if they are not anonymous, they are NOT donations, they are bribes/payments). But in any event - I'd never accept donations as adding to the validity of one's point, yes, in reality money talks, but that doesn't make it right - but you are probably right as to why things are the way they are:mad:

I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. "Mongr. Brucey","rivals Ahmadinejod", "riding the coattails of others, mascarading as an A.D.", implications about selling fishing supplies, negative remarks made relating to his having a religious degree, lacks competency, etc. I find these comments, remarks, whatever you choose to call them, very derogatory, and unfair to this individual but according to you these are all based on fact. Next time I post , it will be related to strictly hockey and nothing more.
