Pictures of Your Arena

Re: Pictures of Your Arena

that is where the football team plays...not sure they ever put a rink in there...

That's big enough for a football field!?!

That explains why it said home of the NMU...

I just assumed hockey. I never would have guessed football. It just didn't seem big enough.

The X is like that. One of the seats I regularly get for the F5 is only a couple rows from the very very top, on the end of the ice, and the view is awesome, you're at a very steep viewing angle towards the ice, and I love it. I almost prefer that seat to something on the blue line, just above the glass (my second favorite seat preference).

The X is about as good as you're going to get for modern arenas when it comes to feeling on top of the action. To get any closer, you need larger cantilevers for the upper deck or more poles (like Wrigley Field or Fenway) to support it. And fewer luxury boxes.

That's why the designs of so many smaller capacity areas are more interesting, as they offer a lot more room to play around with the elements. There's a reason all NBA/NHL arenas are very similar.

No. NMU plays football at the Superior Dome (pictured above), and hockey at the Berry Events Center.

Prior to the BEC, the 'Cats played at Lakeview Arena, the city owned barn just down the street.
Meh, who cares, both suck. ;)

That's just so you can lord over your underlings, right! :D

Re: Pictures of Your Arena

Why is K Lot at an even plane with the NHC? I know it's been a few years since I've been to a game, but there should be a 15-20 foot incline between the street and the arena. Are they really going to make that new entrance that big? Because I remember it being recessed from the curb a good 60-70 feet, too.

I always assumed that most of the addition to the rink size would be on the west end of the arena, going out towards 5th Ave.

The main entrance currently is facing 5th Ave. The NHC renovation will have the main entrance/lobby/ticket booth on the south, facing Herb Brooks Way. The hill will be gone so it'll be on an even plane with the street and K Lot.

What are the trailers that appear high up in the picture? Press boxes, sky boxes, maintenance. Either way my attention was captured by them. They definitely look like a pretty unique fixture though admittedly I have visited few domes.

Tell me that they have some sort of baseball in there during the winter. Imagine playing intramural baseball in February...

Sorry to break this, but the baseball field is a photoshop. The large things in the air are HVAC units.
