Re: Pick the Frozen Four winners and Champion

Anyone know of a way to record a game that you won't be able to watch live?
Yes! Attend the game at Ridder; the men's game will be televised, so you can record that, plus you'll have to trouble selling your ticket for the Final Five. Or at least come to the first couple periods of the first Frozen Four semi, and blow off the early men's game between SCSU and some other team you really don't care about.

Fully considered that approach, but decided that "family relations" should take priority. Have handicapped brother, who bought the two tickets, and he would have a very difficult time going alone!

But in this advanced technical age, I was hoping there was some software available that would allow one to record a live webstream...might also come in handy in the future.

Plan B: Listen to the the audio broadcast of the Gopher women's game using the free audio from Gophersports while at the the Final Five (I'd recommend this audio over whatever is provided on NCAA.com any day). After a couple of days, the NCAA usually puts up an archived copy of the the NCAA Frozen Four games, so you can watch them then.

I'm sure that software exists to capture what is streaming on your screen, but one problem is that the link usually isn't even posted until the day of the game, and if you're not there to click it and start the recording, I don't know how it would work.

Re: Pick the Frozen Four winners and Champion

Thanks, guys. Will be a long hockey weekend but I'll be savoring every minute of it!

Gopher women win their 4th NCAA Championship!
Gopher men win the WCHA Final Five in their last year as a member of the WCHA!

Yeah, GO GOPHERS! :)

Re: Pick the Frozen Four winners and Champion

If this weekend goes as I hope Bill Belichick will want those jerseys. Go Hockey East!
Ooookay. I give up. Why is an NFL coach the ultimate collector of hockey jerseys? Or were you just free associating?:)

Re: Pick the Frozen Four winners and Champion

Screen capture software is generally only useful for a couple minutes at best. Then you start getting into unmanageable file sizes.

Do you have a smartphone? You can watch on your phone. That's my plan while I'm at the CT Whale game I couldn't get out of... #Fail

Thanks for the additional info. Good advice on the smart phone. At this point in time I do not own one but I'll borrow my wife's iPhone (not that I would have any clue about how to actually get the game to work on it ;) ). About how much data would a streamed game consume? As I recall our data plan gives her 3GB a month?

If you are at a live hockey game, you're really not going to want to try to watch the video on something as small as an iPhone. Bring earbuds or headphones and just listen to it. Go to gophersports and practice doing so on the audio of one of the archived games with the iPhone. That way, you'll at least know what the score is. Or if you just want the score and game status, use the live scoreboard:

That's great advice, thanks, but here's my new plan. The women's game starts at 5:00PM, the Gopher men's game starts at 7:00PM. In between, my brother and I will be at a nearby restaurant that offers WiFi that will allow us to stream the women's game while having a refreshment or two. If, by about 6:45PM, the women's game is still close (doubtful - sorry TTT) we'll stay at the chosen establishment until the end; otherwise, with victory well in hand we will head over to the X to watch the men win! :)

Now you're talkin!

Are you going to be streaming on the phone or on a laptop? I'm concerned you might have trouble with the iPhone because I don't think those allow you to use Flash (which most of these streaming websites require...)

Will bring a netbook AND a tablet so we each have a good view to watch the Eagles' crash landing! ;)
