Penn State Womens Hockey

Re: Penn State Womens Hockey

Anyone know how the play offs stack up. I have heard so many different scenarios.

I know Penn State is in sixth place but I don't know who we will be playing. I also know that Mercyhurst is first and Sracuse is second. The race is on between RIT, Robert Morris and Lindenwood. Good Lucy to all!

How will third place be decided?

From CHA's website:

2013
TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

FIRST ROUND
Friday-Sunday, March 1-3
at Campus Sites, 7:05 pm
(best 2-out-of-3)
#6 seed at #3 seed
#5 seed at #4 seed

SEMIFINALS
Friday, March 8
at Highest seed
(Teams will be re-seeded after First Round)
Highest remaining seed at #1 seed
Lowest remaining seed vs. #2 seed

CHAMPIONSHIP
Saturday, March 9
at Highest seed

Re: Penn State Womens Hockey

Also from the CHA website:
In case of a tie in the regular season standings the following tie breaker will be used:

1: Comparison of conference game results between tied teams (head to head)
2. Conference Wins
3. Comparison of Results against the top two teams
4. Comparison of Results against the top four teams

RMU and Lindenwood need to sweep their series this weekend, and RIT needs to get swept in order for there to be a tie for 3rd. RIT holds Tie Breaker #1 over RMU, but RIT-Lindenwood went 1-1-2 this season. If Lindenwood is tied for third, they would win Tie-Breaker #2 and Penn State would travel to Lindenwood for the first round. If RIT gets at least 1 point from Mercyhurst this weekend, or Lindenwood loses at least a point at Syracuse, Penn State comes back to RIT.

Most likely, we will be seeing you back in the Ritter in 2 weeks.

Re: Penn State Womens Hockey

Somehow that does not appear right to me. Would it not be the Lowest remaining seed at #1 seed if you are re-seeding ?

I was wondering the same thing when I first read it. I concluded that the reference to "Highest remaining seed" must mean the highest NUMBER which would actually be the lowest remaining seed. Otherwise, the #1 seed would be penalized by having to play the better remaining team.

Re: Penn State Womens Hockey

I believe both of these players will stand out and make significant contributions towards PSU's future success:

Laura Bowman and Amy Petersen hope to lead Minnetonka to record third state title in a row

Also junior Christi Vetter who is a verbal commit to Penn State had the OT game winner in Lakeville North's quarterfinal win.

I believe all three of these Minnesota girls will be impact players and will help PSU get to the next level.

Re: Penn State Womens Hockey

Has anyone seen next year's schedule? I was hoping they might be making a trip to my area again. I had a blast running over to Vermont to see them play UVM. Any chance they are playin up here again, or picking up a game with Clarkson? Just hoping...:D

Schedules don't usually come out until mid to late summer.

If you can just get them to OT, they'll win the game for you. Peterson scores the gamewinner from Bowman in the 6th OT of the state semifinal.

Re: Penn State Womens Hockey

Headed to State College this weekend for the games with UNH. Recommendations for good places to eat?

Wow, no sour grapes there, eh?

Hopefully that player learns a lesson about being the bigger person and airing your dirty laundry in a public forum.

The 7 players who got cut played a combined 61 games and had 1-3-4. Not exactly setting the world on fire. Shoulda known what she was signing up for when she went to a new D1 program.

She didn't get the attention she wanted, and now she's upset. Coach didn't pay attention to her, and now he's a bully?

Well, thank goodness he didn't grab a kid's jersey during a game.

On a serious note, I do think it is interesting that 3 of the kids let go were scholarship players.

That could mean they were receiving $500 of athletic aid. No way to know what kind of scholarship they were really receiving.

Unless you have additional information, you're reading a whole lot into that story that isn't there.
