Penn st. Job?????

Re: Penn st. Job?????

Very interesting hire. Gadowsky has been a nomad. From Edmonton, went to CC, played all over, coached in California/Alaska and then made the jump to Princeton. I think most expected a bigger name hire, but I have a feeling Gadowsky will be the guy to build the program--but someone else will be brought in to elevate the program.

Re: Penn st. Job?????

That picture of Gadowsky on the front page is just priceless. And I don't mean the poster. ;)

Well, he is following in the footsteps of The Man! :D

Re: Penn st. Job?????

Someone pointed out on tPB that no one would ever come out and publicly say "Yeah, we didn't really want him but we settled for him." That would be incredibly rude and sent the completely wrong message to the coach. And Mark Johnson and Scott Sandelin aren't going to say "Well, I turned it down, so they picked that schmuck instead." Again, incredibly rude and disrespectful to a peer.

We are never getting the gospel truth from athletic departments so why would this be different?

Dear Hokydad,

Remember when you told me inviting an undrafted player to a summer camp meant nothing?

Well, I present to you Justin Fontaine, undrafted Wild summer camp attendee 2010, Wild free agent signee 2011.

Boom shakalak.

I await your humble apology.

Sincerely,
RWD

that is what happens when you score 60+/- points and your team wins a natl championship
them and 32+/- other teams must have all been stupid last summer by not going after him

Congrats to him...
Really good player

Same thing happened to Gibbons with Pitt and several others. talking rule of thumb, not the exception.

If you want to hang your hat on tripping on a scratch ticket worth 5 million, good luck to you

Re: Penn st. Job?????

In defense of Hokydad, it seems to have happened a lot more this year than previous years. Thompson with Pitt is another one, but there are plenty of players that played in development camps last summer as free agents then signed with different teams (Da Costa, Miele, Sislo etc.).

The words "in defense of Hokydad" should never be written or spoken.

Last year's conversation was teams have absolutely no interest in the players they invite to the camps, and Hokydad took up the position that they are 100% filler and favors and they have no POSSIBLE INTEREST IN ANY OF THEM. What he said today is not the opinion he vehemently, rudely expressed in his barely literate simian typing. There was no "as a general rule" statement made.

So, being the moron that he is, he set himself up for failure. Or, further failure.

being blunt is not being rude. I will say again exactly what I said, the vast majority of the kids broughgt into the development camps are there as fillers to round out the camps. As a rule of thumb they are not brought in as legit prospects for teh purpose of signing. The vast majority of the teams dont even do exit interviews with them.

If you think otherwise, great. Doesnt change my opinion.

Re: Penn st. Job?????

Just my humble opinion, but the first four minutes of my interview with Joe Battista should squelch any rumors that Guy was not an after-thought as some here think.
