Patty Kaz 2013

Kessel
Lam
Raty

I respectfully disagree and have to place Jenner over Lam. She and Lam have about the same # of pts per game, but Jenner has done it with less supporting cast (no twin sister who she has played with her whole life) and a very young team. Yet, she led her team to win the ECAC and IVY (co-champs) Leagues. She also has a very high GPA and started a charity, Markers for Madysen where she got sponsors who pay $1 for every goal - to assist a young girl with cancer.

Is it really fair to have 3 WCHA players in the final-3 when there are more East teams in the top-8.

Re: Patty Kaz 2013

I'm sorry - I missed the part where fair came into the equation when deciding who the best players are.

Re: Patty Kaz 2013

Waaa. Waaa. Call the waambulance. These girls have certainly had a fair of share of recognition over the years for their accomplishments, including the most important one as Olympians.

I could name a pile of other players who got a whole lot less love, recognition or appreciation for their accomplishments. Including a fine defenseman, Hayley Cudmore who was snubbed for All Ivy completely this season despite having not only better defensive stats (plus minus), but also better offensive stats not only than a teammate on D, but also better than a forward from another program who got first team recognition.

It happens. Awards don't always go to the most deserving players.

There should be plenty of room for it.

Re: Patty Kaz 2013

but I believe numbers don't lie.

Not arguing the "who" of it...but the fact is that numbers in any situation certainly can be looked at from a variety of different viewpoints so depending upon your viewpoint, they certainly can at least fib.

Re: Patty Kaz 2013

Okay, seriously, if you gave odds at -400 for Kessel to win the Kaz, I would put my entire life savings up because that is guaranteed return.
A couple weeks ago, I might have agreed with you, but the picture has changed. Kessel was on pace for > 120 pts. Now, Kessel has been on the shelf, Räty has back-to-back shutouts, is rewriting the goaltending record book, and I think has become even more vital to her team. So hang unto those life savings.

It's like they say in horse racing when a heavy favorite is running with very short odds, "If you already have $5, do you really need $6?"

Re: Patty Kaz 2013

Jenner had a hand in all 8 of Cornell's goals this weekend 4-4 including scoring yesterday's OT game winner and today's game winner unassisted with 1 second to go on the clock.
