Snopes doesn't say one way or another. If it's true, you can blame Roger Valdaserri (sp) long time SID at Notre Dame. At the very end of Rudy, when he's being carried on players' sholders, you see a player named Valdaserri (sp) rush into the picture. An obvious tip of the hat by the producers.

I've heard Pari-zay more than not, even in college. I always thought it was Pari-zee, but given the origins of the name, I could see either pronunciation: Americanized, or non-Americanized, if that makes sense.
