I've heard Pari-zay more than not, even in college. I always thought it was Pari-zee, but given the origins of the name, I could see either pronunciation: Americanized, or non-Americanized, if that makes sense.

Snopes doesn't say one way or another. If it's true, you can blame Roger Valdaserri (sp) long time SID at Notre Dame. At the very end of Rudy, when he's being carried on players' sholders, you see a player named Valdaserri (sp) rush into the picture. An obvious tip of the hat by the producers.

Normally I would want Suomi to win, but with the implications this game has on the US, I have to root for Sweden. Considering a Sweden win (as long as they don't win by more than 5) means that the US is on the opposite side of the bracket from Canada, Russia and Sweden...

Wouldn't a win by Finland do just the same, give the USA the one seed with Canada, Russia, and Sweden on the other side of the bracket? or would the sweden loss keep them on our side of the bracket??

A Finland win gives them the 1 seed because they win the goal differential. The US drops to 2 (same side as Russia, Canada).

Finland win gives them the #1 seed by goal differential and put USA in the side of the bracket with Canada and Russia as the #2 seed.

Finland comes in with 6 points and +9 GD. The U.S. is sitting 9 points with +9 GD. If Finland wins in regulation, they will have 9 points and better than +9 GD.

Tough loss for the U.S. women curlers. They played a very solid game, and still got run over by Sweden. The Swedes were close to perfect, and even in the instances where they made mistakes, they were able to cover for them.

Drury has been fantastic in this tournament and has more than earned his spot on this team.

I've said it since the team was picked that I loved the make up this team as long as Miller played well and Thomas never saw the net. So far everything is working out exactly like I thought it could.
