If I'm reading it right, as the 1, and playing the winner of 8/9, we'd be seeing Switzerland-Belarus.

Very nice.

Meanwhile Canada has to beat Germany just to get Russia? If so I likely very much.

Maybe they should keep the Vancouver liquor stores open after all...

You mean Cold Beer Stores? Didn't know they ever closed up there...

Hey, they were able to track down Eruzione! :p

you know I'd go nuts if my entire life after an event was all about the event. Doesn't he get tired of talking about it at some point?

Good start for the women curlers... solid rocks from Pottinger throwing fourth (and, it should also be noted, McCormick throwing third), and they forced Sverige to take one with the hammer in the first end.

Canada gets Germany next.

No pressure guys...you're only seeded 6th when you were supposed to win gold...

Re: Part III of the XXIst Winter Olympiad Or how I Learned to Stop Worryng & Love Curling

Switzerland... or Belarus... either one won't be an easy win but its a win we should expect to get. The Semis would effectively be the Finn/Czech winner in that scenario. Of course in the semis there will be no easy outs.

No, but it would sure be nice to have a path to the final without meeting Canada, Russia or Sweden!

It's hockey. It's the preliminary round. It's not like this is the Miracle on Ice. We have a skewed view because we're hockey fans, but NHL ratings are a loser and there is no way NBC was devoting three hours of *prime time* to a preliminary round hockey game.

You are such a freakin' contrarian. Of course, Ice Dancing is a VERY big deal all across the United States, particularly in the old Confederacy. Suck on the sequins, will ya?

I think people severely over-rate Germany.

And apparently, there's no plan to reshow the game... :(

You think he's had to pay for a meal or buy a drink in 30 years?

Yeah, Canada's going to need beer to cry into tonight. :D

The MSNBC recap guy is calling it a Rafalski hat trick. Apparently he doesn't give much credence to the official's scoring record.
And now they keep repeating it. Good grief.

ETA: They finally corrected themselves.

I wasn't suggesting Germany has a any chance, But rather it would be nice to eliminate Russia or Canada before them semi finals.

I firmly believe there would be more hockey fans if more people would have watched that game. Instant classic. The kind of game to get people hooked.

Now if they were showing the hot Russian women's curling team going against Denmark or something, that'd change everything.
