Paris Under Attack....the hell?

Re: Paris Under Attack....the hell?

On the "hope for humanity side" people are using #PorteOuverte on social media to offer safe places for stranded people to stay.

In truth, no we cannot. The minerals used in our high-tech economy simply don't exist within our bountiful lands. Surprisingly (or not), China has huge deposits of some of the rarest metals in the world, and they're needed in our devices that we use daily. Our computers would require more power and weigh more without them. I just wish I could remember the names to these metals as there are two or three of them. We've built ourselves into a foreign dependency, unless we're willing to slide back to largely 1990s tech, or making it criminal to not recycle your tech gadgets once their life cycles have ended so that we can harvest the needed materiel.

Rare-earth minerals, which actually aren't all that rare. They discovered a huge deposit of them in Nebraska a few years ago. It's just more cost efficient to get them from China right now.

I'd be a bit surprised if northern Minnesota didn't have them either. But I'd rather they stayed there. Northern Minnesota is far, far too pristine to **** up with the mines they want to start up. Sure, it used to be all mining up there, but no thanks.

Also, please don't confuse rare earth metals and minerals. :)

153 now. I expect that to rise.

Rage is asploding, personally.

Re: Paris Under Attack....the hell?

It's all this POS' fault, so we could use a little micro-targeted ethnic cleansing with that brood as well.

About time someone told it like it is. Here's the thing, we don't ask white Christian men to condemn or justify the existence of the KKK or the numerous white male terrorists who shoot up schools. Why do we force Muslims to condemn or justify the existence of ISIS and fringe terrorists? America needs to get its own house in order.

Re: Paris Under Attack....the hell?

msnbc just stating.

8 scumbags killed. 7 via bombs. 1 from gunshots.

110 dead
200 injured. 80 seriously.

Re: Paris Under Attack....the hell?

I'm about as liberal as it comes, and even I would basically start to wipe ISIS controlled cities and towns off the face of the earth (not turn them into sheets of glass like Brent, but pretty much level them). No boots on the ground trying to sort terrorist from innocent civilian. Yes, there would be massive civilian casualties, but at some point these societies as a whole become complicit in allowing Islamic extremism to fester and grow.

Let them know if they want to marter themselves their family back home will end up paying the price.

You know, in the past I found such lines of thinking morally reprehensible. But I'm starting to soften on that line of thinking.

The problem is, that's exactly what they want. These *******s think they are going to "Paradise".

We aren't dealing with a traditional foe here - we're dealing with a death cult.

Great. Give them what they want. I don't see a problem here.
