Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

And how'd plattsburg do the last time they faced Oswego 5 times in a season?

I mean as long as we're throwing out numbers irrelevant to this years teams, we might as well look at that too, right?

Did they?

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

I really wish I could have made this game. I talked to a couple friends and they said the atmosphere was great. When it comes to arenas, you cant get much better then Oswego. I bet it was rocking! :D

Wow good job, too bad it cant happen. History speaks for itself. Oswego hasn't done, what they hope to do, in 30+ years against Plattsburgh. I will take those odds anyday.

Once again you miss the point. Whether its 5 games 5 years ago, 6 games 30years ago, or 3 games last year. None of those games have any impact on what will happen this year!

The odds are the same whether Oswego's won 10 national championships or Plattsburgh has. You're talking about unrelated incidents, none of which have any bearing on the rest of this season.

I bet most of the players on Oswego don't even know what happened in the '87 season, let alone against who, or what the NCAA did afterwards. Talking about how that series effects 'the odds' of a potential 3rd or 4th matchup this season is just silly.

And yes, norm, they did. I'm surprised your research happened to skip over this season.

"...You're talking about unrelated incidents, none of which have any bearing on the rest of this season." - Not exactly true, past results are indicative of the program and coaches ability and strongly influences recruiting.

Oh, the 2002-03 season, now I remember, the first significant rebuilding year where Plattsburgh far exceeded expectations, fielding a team of 10 freshman and 7 junior/seniors (versus Oswego's 5 freshman and 12 junior/seniors). That was a good year for Plattsburgh :D

Im not talking about '87, I am more talking about the 3 times in the past 12 years Oswego has won both regular season games and we hear all the squaking from Laker fans only to go into Oswego and beat them.

I am amazed through the 9-0-1 run thats all we heard was "what happened in the past" now that Oswego finally gets a few wins, the past means nothing...interesting.

Thanks norm at least someone gets it. Exactly why people were calling for Goseks head because he couldn't beat Plattsburgh, they always went back to history for that. Why? If its one game at a time why would the 0-9-1 matter? A team goes 2-0 against another and you would think they are the ones who've has the 65 wins. We heard the same thing back in the three years Oswego won both regular season games, only to have Oswego fall flat on their face in the SUNYACs, not once, not twice, but three times. I guess if Plattsburgh had that kind of history I'd want to deny it too...

...and I guess if Oswego had the most recent history of losing to their rival, and only winning 6 of their last 13 games I'd want to look back a little further as well:rolleyes:

You can have your history, I like where it stands in the present.

Geezzzeee guys, take a breath! "Sticks and stones will break my bones.... naaaahhh"

They're both **** fine hockey teams. We both have good reason(s) to be proud, past and present. It's a great rivalry.

Kumbaya...."

Actually, only the sixth of those games is bogus in the NCAA's eyes. The infractions only vacated Plattsburgh's participation in the national tournament, so the three regular-season wins stand, and neither the SUNYAC nor the ECAC-West chose to strip Plattsburgh's conference titles, so those two games are valid as well. Largely meaningless, but I guess that's kinda in the spirit of the thread at this point ;)

The squirts have a new keeper...pretty good for a newbie

ALBANY — Gavin Giroux scored four goals in a span of just over six minutes Saturday to lead the Junior Cardinal squirts to a 9-0 victory over the Oswego Pirates in Albany. Giroux also had two assists while Josh McCauley chipped in with three goals and an assist.

Kurtis Olsen added a goal and two assists while Paul Fine-Lease completed the scoring. Chase Bedore and Brendan Whalen each picked up two assists with Luke Carpenter and Christian Thomas getting one apiece. Josh Leis made 15 saves for the shutout.
