Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close 1st

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close

My guess is that Utica was the number 1 east seed and the protocol is that the side of the bracket with the Number 1 seed in the host region is slated for prime time

Protocal, yes. But, I've seen the times switched both in D1 (for TV purposes) and D3 (for attendance) so many times, it made the protocal nonexistent. I personally don't care. But, I do believe for those people from the Oswego and Norwich areas who may not be able to take a whole day off from work but may have been able to take a half day or leave early are now not going to be going. Utica will bring people for sure, but you had two teams capable of bringing extra people for a night game.

...student broadcasters with Friday morning mid-terms having to haggle with non-major profs to take the exam early so LakerNation will hear the game on the radio...from the beginning...

Fans are nice, but which game time does the coach from Oswego (or Norwich) prefer?

Coaches always prefer the first game because it makes it easier to scout the second game.

For years Coach McShane has always played the early game in final four type formats in the ECAC East Tournament.

Frozen Four Programs
Will programs for the teams be available at the door or will we need to down load from the internet. Last year you could not purchase at the door if I remeber correctly. Anybody have the link to down load the programs if needed.

I know Adele, the excellent SID at Oswego, had a link to last year's program in one of the Oswego releases.

I suspect it will be the same as last year. Poke around NCAA.com. If you can't find it, I'm sure the SIDs will be posting links as well.

I played against those two guys mentioned. Eric Feder was a penalty-killer type but Art Federow was a tough defenseman with a mean streak and some good offensive instincts. Part of the machine they had late 70's-early 80's.

Not to mention that Federow was one sick individual. And I mean that in the funniest way.

they were swarming on that shift, adrian came back up ice and if you notice,we had 2 forwards back to help, and then they came back up the ice on adrian and ended it,... 13 for adrian had a baaaad dumpin, ferris caught and made a nice pass up ice,.59 white was coasting, not moving his feet, puck watching instead of getting his mans stick, stuff like that, the little things is what costs games at that level.

So I am reading about how All Americans have to come from 1st Team All Conference (2nd if Goalie) and see how Hare got Screwed again this year. This is a worse popularity contest than Gold Gloves. Kevin Carr as second team?? He didn't even crack the top five in save percentage or goals against, had a losing record (not all his fault) and all of his stats were down from last year.

Take nothing from Cadieux (and I believe he was 1st team last year too) who had outstanding numbers. However if you compare his numbers from last year to Hare's last year, Hare's are better by a wider margin last year than Cadieux's are better this year. So not only is Hare being 3rd team SUNYAC a travesty, you can make a strong argument for him being 1st team as Cadieux was last year.

Once again Cadieux had a phenomenal year and I'm not trying to slight him. I won't even bother comparing Hare's numbers to Carr's because it's no contest. But the comparison between Hare & Cadieux in regular season conference games may surprise you. Certainly not the difference between 1st team & 3rd team.

Hare 12'-13': 14-2(17) record, 0-2 (6GA 54 saves) HTH. 1.6263GA (25), 922:21 mins, 384 saves, .939% SO-4

Cadieux 12'-13': 12-3-1(16) record 2-0 (4GA, 60 saves) HTH. 1.5028GA (24), 958:13 mins, 385 saves .941% SO-2

No question Cadieux had the better season now look at last year when they were once again Cadieux 1st & Hare 3rd team.

Hare 11'-12': 14-1-2(17) record, 1-0-1 (2GA 62 saves) HTH. 1.6912GA.(28), 993:21 mins, 375 saves .931% SO-3

Cadieux 11'-12': 11-3-1(15) record 1-0-1 (5GA 59 saves) HTH. 1.8202GA.(28) 922:58 mins, 363 saves .928% SO-2

IMO the end result of this is a goalie playing with a chip on his shoulder because he knows for the second year in a row he has been denied his place in the awards banquet because of some simple minded coaches holding grudges in a beauty contest. The numbers don't lie Hare deserved to be 1st or second team both years and at least considered for AA. He led us to the championship last year hopefully he stays hot and takes us all the way this year. I'm sure he would rather have a National Champonship than a personal accolade but my contention is he deserves both. One he is working on the other he should have been given.

I've also heard it said he gets punished for the team he plays on. The Lakers are a very good offensive team. Defensively they have been more toward the middle of the road. Hare has stopped more than his share of break aways and odd man rushes. He has been asked to and made many great saves. He has been hung out (as are all Laker goalies) quite a bit more than any of us want to see. I think even the Platty fans will agree the Lakers system doesn't protect our goalie so much, certainly traditionally not as much as theirs.

Adrian typically has the third period as their best period, and the 1st period is their worst. Honestly, I thought they wore themselves out in the 3rd period. Then when OT started for the first ten minutes I could see they were busting their rumps like there was no tomorrow, but they eventually ran out of energy. I think they were hoping that if they dumped all their energy on the first ten minutes of OT they might be able to get the game-winner. All Oswego had to do was wait it out and overpower Adrian once they got tired.

I am not dissing Carr for I have not seen him play alot of games only against the Lakers but there is a love fest with Carr. You never see a goalie make 1st or 2nd team every year they play like Carr has. Yes it is to bad for the Laker goalies but as Hare's consolation prize he was named USCHO's 1st team goalie at the end of the year.
