Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close 1st

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close

I think the likely scenarios are hosting Wentworth/Salve on Wednesday and then traveling to Utica on Saturday. Or hosting Adrian in the quarters on Saturday. I can't see the committee sending Oswego out to Adrian. Think about the money they would miss out on.

If they played Adrian, it would be in Oswego. The host site is determined strictly by the regional rankings, which are developed by separate committees before the championship committee pulls them together into one bracket, and in inter-regional games with teams of the same regional rank the tiebreaker is who is hosting the championship. The East is the host region, and both Adrian and Oswego are basically locked in at #3 in their respective regions, so Oswego would host.

If Adrian stays out West, I think Oswego gets UMass-Dartmouth rather than Wentworth/Salve, but I wouldn't be completely shocked if I were wrong. I also think you only travel to Utica in that scenario if Utica also wins a play-in game, otherwise you'd host the QF with whoever beat Utica in the first round.

+1

That is my exact thought on the scheduling

Well obviously we would host in the event Utica loses on Saturday. If its the scenario that we are in the play in game Wednesday. What does everything think is the most likely? It seems as though the likely opponents are UMass Dart/Wentworth or Adrian. Just interested in takes on what day/s we play and where.

Plattsburgh would have hosted Amherst last year then. Instead of having 2000 fans at Plattsburgh, the game took place in front of 500 at Amherst.
But they weren't ranked the same. ;)

Oswego will either play UMass/Wentworth/Nichols or Adrian.

Take it to the bank.

Bear in mind that the need to save travel dollar$ trumps bracket integrity (geographic proximity takes precedence over seeding) - that said, the cost for Adrian to travel to Oswego vs Oswego to Adrian is likely to be about the same allowing them to support the bracket integrity.

Very nice Mike. You know what would be really nice is to get a highlight reel together of just Hare in these past two games and some of the unbelievably phenomenal saves he's made.

Outstanding piece, Mike. You have done a tremendous job calling hockey on WNYO. This was great, hope you get to do 3 more and put that fourth check on the list.

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close

Just wanted to add something about last nights game, someone on here also mentioned that Oswego did the little things and I agree, we won most of the corner battles, see modies 3rd goal, we won a few battles and got the goal...also I dont remember oswego blocking so many shots,I seem to remember Titanic laying out and blocking a cannon from the point and Rivait blocking a few in close shots, those things add up to a 4-0 win, we must continue that type of stuff..GREAT JOB GUYS...

Adding to what others have said, Oswego took care of the front of their net and had a strong presence in front of the Plattsburgh net which is something they have been lacking most of the year. I felt Tim Carr was absolutely outstanding last night and he was back to where he was last season. Andrew was brilliant when called upon and challenged the shooters and he also took command of the crease which is huge in this type of game. I hope they can get that final check on their bucket list but as long as they play like they did last night I will be happy even if they don't win.

You DO realize that the first Eastern team you beat in the comparisons is Mass-Dartmouth don't you?

Your SoS is very weak.

YES. I. DO.

YOU DO realize that Oswego was #3 last week regardless of how any of us think the numbers should rank them and YOU DO realize they just beat Plattsburgh so why would they drop from #3 where the East committee runs the risk of exposing Oswego to have to travel to Adrian given that scenario arises where they play each other in a quarterfinal or play-in game?

Because they should. That ranking was there for only one reason - to send Adrian East if the committee wants to have a regional crossover, otherwise Oswego is #3 it's just plain wrong and slights Babson and the NESCAC Champion.

I much prefer the 3 Round 1's in the East with Oswego traveling to the NESCAC champion and the winner playing #1 seed Utica.

Don't forget the West Committee has a card they could play - move Adrian up #2 - there is a much sense to that as Oswego being at #3 in the first place (two can play that game, and there's no way you could move Oswego ahead of Utica or Norwich with a straight face.
