Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

is this kid going to play THIS YR???

Yes, coming in from UMass-Lowell and wearing the #8, he will be re-joining fellow Burlington, Ontario native Luke Moodie on the ice, this time on the same team, unlike in the past. Note, he says, he would "like to keep playing hockey as long as possible and earn a degree."

If memory serves me right, you can move down a division and play. But, if you transfer let's say from Oswego to Plattsburgh (it would never happen:cool: ) you would have to sit out until next year. So, to answer the question raised earlier and norm and Andrew both said, the answer is yes. Carr will be able to play just like Potter was able to play last year. Before anyone cries that this post is redundant I thought I would give to reasoning as to why he can play now.

No DIII to DIII in SUNAYC you do NOT have to sit out...its only the NCHA (I believe) but I know the SUNYAC does NOT have that rule. However, coaches have agreed that top regular players CAN NOT be "traded" to other SUNYAC teams (Galan, Smith), but players who are "practice squad" can transfer.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Yes, the requirement to sit out, while adopted by the NCHA as a conference, is a DI-only rule. Inter-divisional and intra-divisional (outside of DI) transfers can play as soon as they set foot on campus. This way, they don't lose half a year (or a full year) of eligibility.

Now, Spencer Anderson of Hamline had to sit a year for his 2 seasons in Major-Junior. As a result of that (and probably other factors), he played his first collegiate game this past weekend, in the second semester as a junior.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Should help fill some depth after Anderson's injury. Good to see. I don't remember recall one from the championship year, but this is the 3rd year in a row a D1 player has transfered to Oswego (Joel Kitchen in 07-08, Potter last year)

Tim Vokey was a D-I transfer from Ferris State in the championship year but he left school after the first semester.

And promptly went nanners on the scoresheet.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

The NCHA rule is only in place becasue of the WIAC affilation of the UW's. That rule was originally put in to stop mid-season transfering in basketball between the UW schools.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Thanks guys for the assistance and clearing up the issues in my post on the rule book front. I could have swore that it was that way last year?

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

How soon we forget where Kyle Gunn-Taylor came from.[/QUOTE

I knew there was a reason why I haven't posted on here in a while. It seems like when I start to talk I end up like Champ Kind in "Anchorman". Maybe I should sit the next few plays out! I do know that Gunner came from Buffalo State and I have watched him play for the Bengals too. Just wasn't thinking straight about the transfer rules and looked past him.

By the way did anybody catch the little clip on NewsChannel 9 about the Lakers (courtesy of yours truly, but Infanti didn't give me credit)? Maybe I can find a link.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

I think Carr will play friday just so they can see what he's got. I mean he's a big boy at 6 foot 180 lbs. He should fit right in.
