Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread
My little synopsis of tonight's game:
First, was there some type of scouting report on Gunn-Taylor that said shoot low? Brockport only got the puck above shin level maybe 4-5 times.
Second, the line of FSL line was dominant on the ice. Despite the score it's evident that Gosek backed off with them as several times in the third period one player (usually Selleck) would just carry the puck deep and go from there.
Third, Brockport coaching: You finally decide to call a timeout down 8-1? Really? I thought maybe you'd have called it after Oswego scored two shorties within 12 seconds of one another.
Fourth, Neil Musslewhite is fast.
Fifth, Gunn-Taylor played well, good positioning, limited the rebounds and was pretty vocal in the defensive end.
Sixth, penalties are (still) really a concern for this team. Eric Selleck has to realize his own size when throwing checks. Both of his penalties tonight were questionable, but if you're 6'2" you can't be too physical as most players are smaller than you.
Seventh, after the second period was over, the game just became comical. Not only was Oswego dominant in scoring chances, but even on Brockport powerplays, it seemed Oswego was at an advantage.
Eighth, I think Whitelaw is going to be very, very important to the team's success in a season or two. His offensive talent just needs some harnessing, at times he wanted to do a bit too much with the puck.
Ninth, good crowd, the student section was pretty full, decent involvement in the game. Sheridan really had a lot of voices to hear in the first and third (well, the part of which he played) period.
Tenth, Neil Musslewhite is fast.
