Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

Re: Bush declining to appear, I think it was just out of respect for Obama. Let him have his moment.

Speaking of conspiracies, you have to appreciate the nutty creativity of Michael Moore:

The Pakistanis knew OBL was there because...2. They put him there under house arrest at their WestPoint...3. They cut a deal with us: They would hold him there & stop him fr any more terror. 4. But OBL prob f-ed up & started planning something...So Pakistan said, ******* it, he's expendable, u guys can have him. And they looked the other way. No way do choppers fly in next door to army base and "WestPoint", have firefight, blow up chopper, and no cops or Paki soldiers show up? Please! Pakistan just couldn't be seen as participating with us. And please-- the CIA didn't know he was living there for 6 yrs? As long as he wasn't conducting terror, OBL alive served a purpose. Someone should just fess up: The war industry needs fear to make $$ And when he was no longer needed, or he was back to his old ways, he had to be taken out. WH, just say it: He was executed, period. Finally, when we put the Nazis on trial @ Nuremberg, it was right. It exposed their evil & it showed WE believe in a system of justice.

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

I'm up for a good conspiracy theory, but if Islamic law dictates a corpse has to be buried quickly that rules this out. These guys are sticklers about the fundmantals of their faith (as they see them).

.

Right, they buried him X years ago when he was killed in a strike or choked to death on a malted milk ball, and can't go dig him up to prove we're lying. They were giving the appearance he was alive to keep the faithful going at full force and waste our efforts in trying to find him.

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

I'm not sure why Bush declined to appear at Ground Zero alongside Obama today. I don't think it was political: Clinton did as well. It might have been a presidential nod to the incumbent of the office: this is a moment for singular leadership. In any case, I kinda wish both Obama and Dubya were there together, showing the unity of all Americans in what is still after all an ongoing battle. The symbolism would have been good for the country and maybe helped heal some of the rips in the commonweal cloth.

All three of them are going to be there for the 10th anniversary.

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

Seems like Bush is keeping a low profile and there's nothing wrong with that. I too don't read too much into his declining to go to Ground Zero. He was invited. He decided not to go before the anniversary. End of story.

You know, it's kind of a pity that Obama didn't wait another four days, then we would all have a reason to go out drinking tonight. But then that would have offended Mexicans with taking over their day and making it an American holiday.

Happy Mexico defeated the French day!

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

Who doesn't beat on the French???

Could you imagine how ****ed off the Mexicans would have been if OBL's code name had been Pancho Villa instead of Geronimo?

Could have avoided a lot of trouble by having the code name be Dooshbag. But I guess that would have offended New Jersey.

Note: I realized its spelled wrong...apparently the normal spelling is not allowed.

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

Nobody's going to take your bait. You might as well quote Fred Phelps as "the latest disgusting conservative talking point."

y'all got the point quicker than I expected. The question is whether you'll now be able to apply it to both sides.

Yep. Very consistent with his idea of staying out of Obama's presidency.

True, of all the things that Bush II knows about, is that you're always going to have people on your arse as the POTUS. And he's already said on Oprah that he doesn't want to do that to any other president, and would most likely want to stay out of the Lions den that is American politics.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1383698/Osama-Bin-Laden-dead-Radical-Muslims-burial-location-Martyrs-Sea.html

Radical Muslims are already calling the site of Osama bin Laden’s ocean burial the ‘Martyr’s Sea’, according to one of Britain’s leading Islamic scholars.

The US said the decision to drop bin Laden’s body into the North Arabian Sea was taken to avoid creating a shrine for the slain Al Qaeda chief.

But Abdal Hakim Murad, Muslim Chaplain at Cambridge University, claimed yesterday that the move could backfire on the Americans.

If anyone wants to go on "pilgrimage" to visit the body, I'm sure the US will be happy to assist them.

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

Yeah they'll get bored with that pretty quickly when they realize they don't know where to go. Also, there be pirates there.

Could be a great way for SEALs to practice sniping...though it would seem they pretty much have that mastered.

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

They should have flown it out to the Amundson-Scott station and dumped it under the ice somewhere.

"Feel free to make your pilgrimage to the South Pole, ****ers."

No need to bother tracking or hunting them down after leaving a shrine. The weather will take care of them.

This was going to happen anyway. It's a religion where they pray toward a city. Taken to an extreme, they'd just pick a direction and say "pray toward Osama" anyway.
