Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

So Bill Demong wins Gold in Nordic Combined then proposes to his girlfriend then is named the flag bearer for the Closing Ceremonies. That's a helluva day.

he'll remember it forever if it turns out to be the last time he gets blown.:(

Does the home team wear white or dark in the Olympics? I'm guessing dark, since USA wore it for the elimination games, but it would be awesome to have them break out the 60's throwbacks again.

It seemed like home team gets to pick based on the Women's final when they said Canada picked to wear whichever color they wore.

Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

Wait, I thought it was the Danes who were wearing the crazy pants, but the Norwegians are wearing them too.

Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

So did the IOC eliminate the classification games? I can't find any information on these matchups anywhere. Although I guess it ultimately doesn't matter who finishes 7th and who finishes 10th.

Classification games have been done away with. When you're done, you're done. The commentators were talking about NHL practices starting Wednesday, and some of those guys who lost in the first round could be back in time to practice.

All for the best really I suppose as long as it keeps Gary Bettman from using the nuclear option.

I'd bet that the NHL had something to do with that. Who wants Ovechkin hurt so that Russia can finish 7th instead of 8th.

Yeah it makes sense and I can't say I really cared all that much about how the US placed after they were out of medal contention. I do wish they still played 5 preliminary games and maybe eliminated the bottom two teams in 2 six team groups from the knockout round instead.

Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

The Canadian fans just sang Oh Canada before the end of the curling. It was neat.

Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

I don't care who you are, but hearing the crowd sing the national anthem, and the team waiting to do their thing until the crowd finishes, is pretty awesome. Like Canada just did. :)

I hope US fans sing their anthem with about 5 minutes left in tomorrow's hockey game. :) ;)

Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

Yeah, if he missed that I think the crowd would have been waiting to lynch him.
