Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Right on, except for the time Heeter came out way too far. Very sloppy in the second, there was about a seven minute period where WM was so much in control, it looked like a 7 minute PP, but it was 5x5.

There was one time I thought Heeter was out really far too but then I realized there was a delayed penalty. Don't know if that is the time that you are thinking of too or not.

I think he is talking about this: in the second period Western dumped the puck short of the corner and heeter came to the half board to get it and turned it over instead of putting it in the corner where one if his teammates was going almost costing his team a goal.

Oh, that's right. I forgot about that one.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Upon reading this thread and both coaches comments on the weekend it seems OSU played better on Fri than Sat, WMU played better on Sat than Fri. The fact that the shot totals were basically reversed seems to bear that out. Also sounds like the goaltending was good all around. I heard from a WMU player that they had 4 or 5 prime scoring chances on Sat and they were just shut down, Katz had an opportunity right in front that would have tied it but the goalie made the save.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

It's great to see the team working hard and getting better every weekend. :)

It's a BONUS to have two good goalies to rotate and not to have one " HOT " goalie and one " COLD " goalie. :D

I would rather see a team start out cold and then get hot at the end of the year.

" GO BUCKS. "

PS. Did anyone watch the the " SPANKING " that Bemidji gave the Gophers on Sunday. The game was at the Gophers home ice. :o

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

That's true. Point blank shot and a great save. Couldn't ask more of either player on that play.

That was set up by Kyle Reed and one of our D-men slamming into each other

Nice to have a 4, er 6 point weekend. Amazing how 1 goal just seems the relax these guys-see Friday night. Maybe a little too much Sat night but they found a way and I'll take it.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

I know I like to rant about lack of PP. The PP looked better both nights, working the puck to get closers shots. A PP goal both nights. Liked Kirkland's, stepped out of the box into a rush, got he first Buckeye goal.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Well let's get rested up for Farris State. This match up will be no push over.

It looks like Farris State is also doing good. It should be some good hockey come this weekend.

" DROP THE PUCK or DROP THE GLOVES. " :D

Looks like the Bucks signed two kids for next year. Now the big question is will Markell be there when they arrive???

Looks like the Bucks signed two kids for next year.

Markell has had great success getting good skaters from the BCHL the last two years. Hopefully Curtis Gedig, Dman and Alex Szczechura, F, will do well.
At one time Alex Lippincott(Fargo) and Chris Crane(Green Bay) were on schedule to arrive next year. Wonder what their status is, with only one senior scholarship money could be scarce.

Alex is a very skilled forward with great vision," Markell said. "He has the ability to give more to a power play. He's known for his passing skills but can put the puck in the net as well and has a history of putting up points at every level. He's currently playing a big role for a strong team in Penticton that has the ability to go far in the playoffs."

Szczechura?

Must be related to Paul who put up some nice points for WMU a few years ago. He's spent some time in the NHL this year too.

From the article on ohiostatebuckeyes.com:
His brother, Paul, played four years for Western Michigan in the CCHA (2004-07) and is currently in the NHL with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

I'd be willing to bet 2 current Juniors and 1 Sophmore won't be back next year (maybe even 3 and 2?), which will open up more scholarship money...

If i had to guess right now i would say Dalpe, Albert, and Bartkowski will not be back next year.

Although as i said earlier in this thread Dalpe needs to be more aggressive in his play too many times he goes unnoticed during games.

I was just saying that and then Dalpe had a huge weekend, hope it continues. I don't expect him to score every game but sometimes stars gotta be stars.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Like I said before , you can kiss John Albert " GOOD-BYE " to the NHL unless he decides to stay another year in college.

I was telling a friend that at the game on Friday. IMO John Albert is the best player on this team because you can count on him to make something happen almost everytime his line is on the ice it might be a penalty, scoring chance or even a goal. He has consistently done that all season and for most of last season too. I dont see him being a buckeye after this season.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

On the positive side, Aaron Lewicki for the Bulldogs was a -1 and the Buckeyes won the face-off battle 33-32. My guess last night's healthy scratches will dress.
Not more to be said.
