Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Getting to the game Sat night will be interesting with the FB game at 330 for the Rose Bowl. I will just be walking over to the Schott from the Shoe. Anyone just coming down for hockey not sure where you'll park. Would be nice if the Marketing Dept would mention the hockey game during the FB game.

They may have delayed the start of the game, but with the FB crowd leaving and many streets being one way to get them out, getting in becomes really tough as you never know which streets will be open as normal and which will be closed to incoming traffic. Best leave early and plan on getting there late.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

I contacted WOSU about their lack of hockey coverage. Two stations, you think they could afford 4-5 hours a week for the games. I can't believe the regular programing has a much higher audiance. The response:

This year WOSU is not broadcasting hockey on-air, rather we are web- streaming the hockey games. Unfortunately, hockey broadcast simply don’t garner a substantial audience for us, but recognizing there is a small but loyal fan base we continue to contract to webstream the games...
Well, I'm grateful the webcasts will still be available. To the extent this includes road games, I'll certainly be tuned in.

And yet, in terms of growing the fan base, this is almost a worst case scenario. My guess is that webcasts will attract virtually no new fans. At the same time, "the small but loyal fan base" will be at least partially placated by the "compromise."

My take? If you care about this program, now would be a good time to stand up and be counted -- not placated into silence.

Coming from a University with a much more prominent Hockey program I say consider yourselves lucky to have the games online. Unfortunately Hockey will never make enough of an impact to even compete with football. Yost sells out every game (or at least close) but our games are not on a web-cast. I don't see UM ever putting them online either. Unfortunately we are either forced to listen to the radio, go to the games (which isn't a bad option but not always practical), or hope that our opponent is streamming them.

Yes you should say something, make some noise for your cause. Just don't expect any changes.

I took out a membership to the station via an internet link and let them know specifically and in very certain terms that the membership was because of the hockey broadcasts on the web. I've also let them know that unless they resolve these problems soon the membership won't be renewed. Can't do much more than that.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

OSU is 41st in the R.P.I., sounds about right, but looking at a few teams ahead of them, seems a little low. Western Michigan comes to town 9th, seems very high looking at their schedule, W's against Mercyhurst and Bama. Shows not very meaningful this early in the season. Bemidji St. is number 1.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

How is Moaning Martell doing? Since he stopped haunting the bathroom on Thunder Island I've wondered what became of him.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

FINALLY a win for Dusty!! From what I could tell from the poor quality video feed, he looked pretty solid for most of the game. It's about time he got a win!

It was also good to see Duddy and Kreed back on the ice. We've definitely missed them.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

The Bucks had so many chances in the second, they just couldn't capitalize. The difference in this team that I see from the last few years is they don't give up playing when they are down. The last few games we have actually come from behind to win. In the past years, we stopped playing anytime the other team scored a goal.

Excited for the game tomorrow, should be interesting to see if Heeter is in net. I used the hockey game as an excuse to get a ticket to the football game so I didn't have to deal with traffic. Why did they wait a whole week to move the game to 8 when we all knew they were going to do it???

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Dustin was solid tonight, but IMO he's been solid all season. I would go with Heeter at least tomorrow night. Otherwise you send the message to Carlson that if he wins he plays and if he loses he sits. That creates pressure and controversy that we don't need.

You are right, this team NEVEr gives up and we have a lot of hustler, play-maker types, and for once they are some of our better players not just role players.

3 goals in:49 seconds was pretty sweet. Looking forward to tomorrows game, we haven't had the opportunity to go for a sweep too often, so let's complete it when the chance is there.

oh yeah, and beat Iowa :)

This was the third time I've seen Dustin play and this was far and away his best game. Couple of superb saves that kept the team in the game.

OSUs still takes too many penalties at inopportune times.

Eight penalties, that is the only real negative, since WM scored both of their tallies on the PP.
Other than the 3 goals in 49 secs, I thought the best part was killing off two 5x3s and the 6x4 at the end.
I feel bad for the 15,000 who missed this one. More points tonight.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

The newest response from WOSU:

WOSU is in contract with OSU to webstream 22 OSU Hockey games this season. For scheduling and streaming information can be found here: http://www.wosu.org/hockey/

Lame excuse, it should be a contract to broadcast the games.
Let yourself be heard

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

I'm happy for Dustin Carlson and the team for getting that first Friday night " WIN. " :) I'm glad that Dustin got his first win and the MONKEY is off his back.

The pressure is OFF with the Friday win , now let's go for the " SWEEP " tonight. :D

" GO BUCKS. "

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Can you say " SWEEP. " :) Friday and Saturday wins.

What a nice weekend of hockey for the Buckeyes.

Keep up the hard work , it's starting to pay off big time. :D

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

I thought friday night was a very good effort by the guys. they played very hard fought back and got the 3 goals in the short span to take control. As always dusty was very good. He gets better every game and finally it paid off for him.

Saturday i didnt think they played very well at all. Just real sloppy, Heeter was solid again. Daple was great imo he needs top lay like that all the time. As a 2nd round Draft pick he needs to be noticed almost evey time he is on the ice and i thought he did that last night. Getting that sweep was huge for the confidence of the team and also they gained points on Michgan and every other team in the league expect Michigan state.

Right on, except for the time Heeter came out way too far. Very sloppy in the second, there was about a seven minute period where WM was so much in control, it looked like a 7 minute PP, but it was 5x5.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

The second period was a definite lack of intensity. I nearly made a fool of myself yelling at them to ice the puck or do whatever it might take to get it out of their defensive zone.

I love complaining about little details after a sweep.:D
