I was curious about that myself because I had not heard anything about Jenny Potter having any baggage, but as you said, those who made those statements did not respond to your inquiries. All of the candidates mentioned in this thread are solid candidates. I would be happy to get any of them. I had not thought of a couple of them, so thanks to those who mentioned the additional candidates. Hopefully this gets wrapped up soon.
Yeah Dan Koch would be a great coach at either Mankato or Ohio St. but, he isn't leaving Madison! He left SSM to go back to UW four years ago.. and I'll bet he knows he will be the the next Badger head coach when Coach Johnson steps down or moves to another position.
Yeah, it seems they are avoiding anything but hinting and I find that odd. I hope they get a coach on par with the talent they have coming in & one that treats the team and the game right. Just leave Joel Johnson the heck alone!!
Frost and Joel Johnson are contemporaries, so I don't think you'd have to worry that Johnson would be waiting for Frost to get old. As for Frost leaving, I'm not sure where he'd go? Once a coach starts in the women's game, it isn't like he seems to be on the radar of men's teams. I'm sure Frost didn't grow up dreaming of being the women's hockey coach at Minnesota, but he may be hard pressed to think of a better job at this point for which he'd be a candidate. He's young enough that he could become an assistant for a men's team and then get a higher-profile head coaching job, but IMO, that's what it would take.No question about it, I would be thrilled with either of the associate head coaches from Minnesota or Wisconsin (Joel Johnson or Dan Koch), but as I told the wife on the way home, I would be concerned that they would leave to go back to those schools when the current head coaches retire or leave for other positions.

Some of the "lowlights":
One witness said Handrahan told her that he likes "to see the girls cry because it makes him feel powerful."
When one witness said she felt bad about sleeping a lot due to an injury even though her boyfriend was in town, Handrahan replied, "Why don't you just give him a Victoria's Secret magazine, some lotion, and tell him to take care of it himself."
When a player had leftover makeup underneath her eyes, Handrahan said," I thought the walk of shame was on Sunday mornings not Tuesday mornings."
Multiple witnesses said Handrahan talked about his divorce and ex-wife in ways that made them uncomfortable. One said Handrahan called his former wife "his ***** ex-wife," another said the coach told her, "My life is a mess. If I don't have you girls, what else do I have?"
Telling people to "get horny" wasn't just for his players. One witness said he told a female referee during a game to "get horny for the whistle."
The anonymous reporter was "identified as a faculty member or instructor." The players said they feared retaliation due to how Handrahan had reacted to a complaint in the past.
Some of this behavior is problematic, but this one? I always hear players saying how close the teams are. They do spend six months together. So if the coach is saying the team is the most important thing in his life at present, it gets listed under fireable offenses? Sorry, I can't agree with that one.… another said the coach told her, "My life is a mess. If I don't have you girls, what else do I have?"

In the comment section is a comment from an OSU student who has a class with a couple players that's interesting.

Let me throw a name out there: Manon Rheaume. Has all the requirements. Coached a number of the incoming commits. Her brother played in the NHL and has been coaching with her. She has a good gig going so would be tough to pull her in but she would add some instant credibility to the program.
It does seem like OSU ignores hockey but look at the talent they have been getting! AS much as I hated the way they played this year (and their sisters who seemed to take lessons from a different pair of thug sisters) they have talent and the guy who seems to have a broken brain pan has a better recruiting class coming in next year. This would be a great opportunity for a coach with high hopes.
As much as I love the Gophers I love hockey more & I hope OSU and UMD both get coaches worthy of the players on the ice. There is a lot of good talent next year in Columbus, it would be a shame if the admins attitude left them with an inferior coach (still, leave Joel outta this )
When it comes to Joel, I have no control over that, Ne7minder! Maybe I can email Gene Smith and tell him he is not allowed to hire Joel Johnson!

For sexual harassment, it doesn't matter what was said or what was intended. The only thing that matters is how it was perceived by the other person, especially in a situation where you are in a leadership postion in relation to the other person. I've seen people fired for more innocuous statements, but that made the other person uncomfortable. Some of this behavior is problematic, but this one?
