No I NEVER said Bad team, good goalie ever! I have seem Bemidji play alot they are a very good team I was simply trying to state teams play differently more confidently with a OUTSTANDINGING goaltender such as Tomcikova behind them! And to say she didn't get them out of a tight spot regularly... isn't true either. I happen to think the coaching they have up there is some of the best in the womens game. Girls and Confidence are a big thing.. you take a few more chances when you know you have Tomcikova back there to bail you out... thats the only point I was tryinig to make. Sertich has all 3 lines skating their butts off... not one doubt that'll be any different this year.

AND i was trying to relate that to the Buckeyes.... who really could use that kind of confidence this year!

I completely understand your point. With the players Coach Nate has brought in, along with the players that were here when he arrived, I don't see any reason why the Buckeyes shouldn't be a confident group. I believe in our coaching staff and kids. Hopefully they will believe in each other and play with that confidence that you are referring to. This thread has turned into a really good discussion ... and the season is right around the corner! Our season actually starts a week from Friday and I am really looking forward to it!

Fever...No one was slamming BSU. I do feel OSU was the very slightly better team last year because of the head to head.

First of all I was defending a comment someone made about OSU finishing 7th (which could happen). BSU comments came out as to reasons why there is uncertainty below the 4 spot. And I never said bad team great goalie. I felt Tomcikova was the best goalie in the WCHA (my opinion) and was saying her loss will be huge. It will be interesting to see if BSU can have those 2-1, 1-0 type games or if their GAA will shoot up a little. 2.22 GAA and her .932 sv% will be hard to maintain. What will also hurt BSU is losing Vichorek and Wheelhouse at D. I'm a huge fan of Erickson who is back and will help keep the scoring.

I was also stating all WCHA teams lost a lot and nobody really knows what to expect. To be honest I'm even nervous about OSU vs Lindenwood :o In hockey you just never know and anything can happen. I'm hoping the Bucks will be top 4, 5. This and many questions about every team will start to unfold in less than 2 weeks. Can't wait :D.

Oh and I should say I think MSU, SCSU also have a great chance of being much better. Both lose very little. The seasons going to be great, fun, awesome etc. Can't wait.

Saw the new Uni's. All Red. Grey with Red pant and added a White. Pretty nice!

I can relate to and understand those observations though. At times during her career, often enough she was the reason her team was in the games. The Beavers improved and became significantly more competitive while she was there and I thought were much better in front of her her final two seasons. They were very good at blocking shots in front of her the last two seasons especially. Definitely not just Tomcikova...her teammates deserve much credit.

Hard to replace though.

I wasn't attempting to accuse anyone of slamming BSU or saying they were a bad team, poor example "bad team, good goalie" on my part.

I'm cheering for all the teams that don't get respect... ha... Go bottom four! Lets get the season started.

Appreciate that, and "nice weekend" is a good choice of words. We couldn't have asked for a better start to the season, but two good weekends does not a season make.

Oh, and while I realize you guys have adopted The Battle Hymn of the The Republic as a school song, that doesn't mean the other 49 states are all left whistling Dixie. ;)

Although this week, the "bottom 4" would refer to UMD, UW, SCSU, and BSU, all within a game of each other.

It was good to get a chance to see this year's edition of the Buckeyes. There are a number of places where the roster has been upgraded from past years. I do think that #17, Julia McKinnon, is going to be a nice player for you over the years. What you probably lack right now is that one player that can singlehandedly turn a game around like Spooner could. Of course, there are only so many of those. You have a lot of talent, it's just not the "oh $h!t, she's on the ice again," type.

She flat out stole games for the beavers...and kept them in games that they really could've gotten smoked. And they rode that through the rankings all year. They will forsure be a different team without her. Buckeyes certainly are hard enough working team that if they can even the playing field in goaltending they'll be just fine! Enough about the beavers.... GO BUCKS!!

Great start for the Bucks... Beavers scored three goals vs Wisco today so maybe that will get things going for the Beavs for next weekend ;)
