How was the view? It looked like spectators were not very close to the action.
The view was about what you'd expect when you put a hockey rink in a baseball stadium. At the same time, I thoroughly enjoyed the entire event, and specifically liked being in Wrigleyville & at Wrigley Field. An Air BnB within walking distance of the stadium worked out extremely well for us.
Seat locations? We moved around over the course of the games. In general, the bottom half of the lower deck offered poor views of the ice sheet. If you insisted on staying there, you watched most of the game on the Video Boards. Top half of the lower deck was decent, provided a pillar wasn't blocking your view.
The upper deck was the preferred choice for us. (seating in the 300s & 400s) We started out near Center Ice. In Baseball terms, that's approximately 1st Base. Not a bad view at all. But that particular position was a bit exposed to the cold wind, and a bit far from the ice sheet.
Overall, we felt the best options were in two of the corners. One down the right field line; the other near 3rd Base. Plain and simple, you were much closer to the ice sheet, and that greatly improved the view. Thus superseding any value gained by being on the red line or either blue line.
I didn't go as the chemotherapy I had several years ago has the lingering consequences of sensitivity to cold. It also makes my neuropathy flare up numbing the hands and feel but at least I'm still here to enjoy the gane in a toasty living room recliner.
No reasonable person would begrudge you the "toasty living room," especially given the medical factor. No matter how well you layered, it was just plain cold. No matter your age, no matter your medical situation. But we liked it!
Still, let's be real. I went to the event thinking I'd enjoy the doubleheaders. We did watch both Buckeye games in their entirety. But we left after the Buckeye games on both days. We had a group of 6. The votes to leave were unanimous. Mind you, we did have an interest in the other contests. We just went back to the Air BnB and watched them on BTN. Carryout food options in Wrigleyville were plentiful. Pizza, Wings, etc. The braver souls among us handled the carryout. They were barely gone before they returned us to with food in hand.
Sorry to be slow to reply. I was exhausted when we got home on Sunday. Then came the snow. Now here we are on Wednesday. It is what it is.
