Ohio State 24-25 Are We Back Yet?

The amount of blown non calls against Michigan State is simply asinine!!
How about the two-minute call after their guy boarded us head-first. Sorry, but that should have been five. Bullshit call. Still, we got a power play and didn't do shit with it. Hope that does not come back and bite us in the ass.

Proud of our guys, but the better team won. Michigan State owned both overtimes. We had trouble getting the puck up the ice, let alone getting decent scoring chances. Still think we will be a tough out in the NCAA Tournament, but we need to do a better job managing the puck. Michigan State was just better than we were. Tough loss, but thankfully, we get at least one more game. Maybe if we end up playing these guys again, we can maybe not leave Isaac Howard all alone in the slot.

Lack of officiating killed us. How do you high stick our goalies helmet off or blatantly slash his stick out of his hands and not get a call? It's like Piotrowski, Wilkins & Shegos are back on the ice! 🤬

They definitely let a lot of stuff go in the overtimes, other than when Michigan State boarded us head-first, which they had to call that one.

They sure did let them play in the Ot's. A couple missed calls on Ohio State too. Any other time of the game and that is a 5 for sure.

Not sure how this one unfolded because I did not make it up, nor was I able to watch, but dang, four unanswered goals in the third for a 7-3 lead? Wow. I did take a look at the line-up sheet and it was then that it hit me ... we need to recruit better, plain and simple. According to the line-up sheet, we only have one player who was drafted by an NHL Team. That is not going to cut it in the BIG Ten or nationally, and we're finding out the hard way today regarding the talent gap with this program. I get it, we overachieved this season, finishing third in the BIG Ten regular season standings and playing for a BIG Ten Tournament Title last Saturday in a season where we were picked to finish last in the league. That is all well and good, but unless we want to continue to be a BIG Ten / National also-ran, we have to step it up when it comes to recruiting, plain and simple. Mrs. 86 and I were going to go up Saturday if we had won today. Hockeybuckeye or Klbaum1077, would like to hear your thoughts on the game, and also the roster / recruiting.

OSU was very strong early, BU only had two shots on goal in the first. A BU defensemen swept away a goal on the goal line that was behind the BU goalie. In the 2nd it was fairly evenly played, though OSU player missed a wide open net from two feet outside the crease. Also, OSU scored at the buzzer but on review it was 0.1 seconds too late. In the 3rd it was a combination of stronger play by BU and a very sieve performance by the OSU goalie. Goalie really fell apart. The Dunlap boys did well for OSU.

Thanks for the information. Still seems like we need to recruit better, but maybe the talent gap isn't as wide as it appears.

Some of our hockey alumni have been angry about our lack of recruiting. BU had 13 draft picks to our 5 and two of them got little to no ice time
The most recent head scratcher is how a top talent slipped through our fingers!
It's reported the Jackets draft pick Cayden Lindstrom, the 4th overall draft pick is probably going to Michigan State as he was quoted as saying Ohio State didn't put as much effort into recruiting him and he was interested in playing here to be close to the Jackets. Really??!!😡

That is a problem! I still say we need to up our game when it comes to recruiting.

No offense to any Penn State fans out there, but I am not sad that they got beat last night. I would have been steamed if a team that has only been a varsity program for 12 years got a natty before us. Heck, they will probably get a natty before we do anyway because their school made a commitment to hockey and our school couldn't care less about our hockey programs.

LOL. That's how we feel about you and Miami State. Ohio's National Champion!

For those closer to the program, what's the outlook for next year? What does recruiting and the portal look like? Are we NCAA competitive again or will we likely have one of our painful rebuilding years. Just endured that two seasons ago, so I hope not.
