Ohio State 2024-25 Domination of the Portal Queen!

Let’s give credit to BC and Hockey East for the 2 1st rounders (Bilka add Barnes … 1 and done). The 4 other 1st round picks all ECAC. Who woulda thought?!?. Give Clarkson credit for Markowski too (another 1 and done). I’ll give you 5 of 6 and that’s giving you dibs on a few other transfers (3) that spent more than a single season at osu.

Let's let the actual athletes give the credit.

Who did the athletes thank during their interviews??? Hummmm.....oh I know...each athlete thanked their teammates at tOSU. I did not hear ONE athlete thank BC, Hockey East, ECAC or Clarkson.

Congrats to the 8 and Kenzie will find a home. If not i guess being a Dr. Isnt too bad :)

4th pick, Hannah Bilka (F), National Champion
5th pick, Cayla Barnes (D), National Champion
11th pick, Jennifer Gardiner (F), 2x National Champion
19th pick, Gabby Rosenthal (F), 2x National Champion 1x player 1x staff
20th pick, Stephanie Markowski (D), National Champion
24th pick, Lauren Bernard (D), 2x National Champion
40th pick, Hadley Hartmetz (D), 2x National Champion
42nd pick, Raygan Kirk (G), 2x National Champion

How did many at Boston College treat Bilka and Barnes when they announced they were leaving BC after receiving their degrees? I don’t think you can treat someone horribly and then expect to receive kudos for development of that player.

Fact is those 3 all graduated and played 4 years at other schools. They used their extra year to go to a place they felt gave them the best chance to win a Natty and they did it. Their trajectory did not change in any substantial way. All were established National team players prior to. If you want to bump your draft stats, that's fine. It doesn't change that they were 1 year rentals.

EIGHT ... EIGHT ... WI ...one :( I can see why your so upset. Here on the Buckeye thread we will help you work thru your displeasure with your program. First tip, you need to coach your talent if you want your talent to succeed. EiGHT

Wisconsin had two, out of three 'declared' - Curl and Wilgren. Chayla Edwards went undrafted.

Plus (a little surprisingly, to me) Dara Greig, who transferred to Colgate looking for more ice time, and certainly took advantage of the opportunity. Yay Dara!

(And, as best I know, BackyardIce isn't particularly a Wisconsin fan.)

Wilgren was drafted. My apologies. I stand corrected. End the end, congratulations to ALL the women that get to continue to play the sport they love. I wish Curl success even tho she has to play 4 that disaster of a coach.

The Muzzinator had a very successful Ohio State camp in Minnesota the other week and is now holding her local one, next month will hold one in Boston. She so involved in promoting her program looking for future talent I don't know how she gets any down time. She's truly tireless in what she does to keep her program on top.
The lady Buckeyes will also travel to Sweden this summer for a three game series with the Swedish National Team. I sure hope there will streaming available to watch that three game series!

Yeah, I don't disagree with you that most of the development of the grad transfers occurred at their previous schools, but I am sure they learned some things here under Coach Nadine and her staff. I am just grateful they chose to be Buckeyes for their grad years as all were instrumental in leading us to a National Title, and I am sure they are grateful for the season they spent here, too. Cannot wait to see all of them back for Alumni Weekend.

I've never seen Tessa on TV without her giving a shout or nod to her Alma Matter, a true Buckeye through and through!

Tessa is a great ambassador for both Ohio State and women's hockey in general. Love seeing her on tv and at the draft Monday. Everyone needs to check out her podcast with Julia Tocheri. It's called Jocks In Jills and it is great. Lots of insightful information and great interviews with players.

Totally accurate. I was talking to one of the parents and made a comment about their Daughter having two Alumni Weekends to attend now. "No, just one." If their schedule allows, they will be in Columbus for Alumni Weekend! They will always be Buckeyes and will always be welcome here, that's for sure!

I have come to the conclusion that the fact that opposing fans continue to be on our thread trolling says more about them and the state of their programs than it does about our Coach and our Program. Or, maybe it does say something about the state of our program, namely how much of a threat we are to the rest of the league and the rest of the country with the Muzzinator driving the train! As she once said six years ago in the Chasing History series, "Get on board or get run over!"

Can't help but be stoked with what the Muzzinator is building here, which is a program that competes for WCHA Titles and National Titles on an annual basis! She is the best Coach at OSU (sorry Ryan Day)!

WOW! Buckeyes going to Sweden this summer. That's HUGE! Talk about great for recruiting. Go to tOSU and you get to play internationally before the season starts. What a great experience for the team. Would be very cool if those games were streaming on a platform so us fans could watch. Thanks for the information Hockeybuckeye. Camps in Boston growing the OSU brand. Absolutely, love it!!!

The NCAA allows for teams to go on international trips once every four years. Such trips have become fairly common in the volleyball world - on a trip in 2019, the Wisconsin coaches noticed a player playing against them in Poland named Julia Orzol, recruited her, she came in 2021 when she was a starting 'left' on the national championship team and is this year's team captain. I don't remember hearing about a women's hockey team going on such a trip before, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened; maybe it's harder to find teams to play in the middle of summer in hockey than in volleyball.

The Nordic countries have long since turned out many of the top hockey players in the world both men and women.
THE Muzzinator going after that talent is just par for the course but I think she scored an eagle with signing Mira Jungaker who will be most likely not only the top defenseman in the WCHA but the country as well!
That's where having an associate head coach like Peter Elander pays HUGE dividends and though I'm sad to see him go his influence on our program will resonate for years to come.

Mercyhurst did this last summer. I guess Muzzy didn't invent it. So sad.

Interesting that the NCAA only allows a trip every 4 years. I wonder why? It would be nice if each class could experience playing international.

Yes. Coach Sisti had been aspiring to take his team international as far back as the early 2000’s. Wonderful they were able to make it happen, with the support of the university and others. Following Mercyhurst social media some of the players quote it as their favorite memory. Other programs have gone to Belfast in recent years.

i hope the buckeyes have a great time.

Don’t forget that for non Americans every game is an international one!
