Ohio State 2024-25 Domination of the Portal Queen!

You haven't seen the thread on forum "Michigan getting a women's team"? Their Board of Regents recently approve a feasibility study for it and the Illich family is pushing for it. You'll find the relevant info and comments on that thread. It's wrong to discuss anything Xichigan on an Ohio State thread unless you're trashing them

oh I'm sorry to pollute this board with discussion about a rival. This is SUCH a busy place. What do you have? Like two comments a day?? LOL

I get your humor and I don't really have a problem with it on our thread, just wanted to steer you to the thread that has the info you might find interesting.
I do somewhat have to tread carefully at times as my wife is from that state up north.
It took ten years to break her to wear scarlet & grey! :p

WOW, 9 OSU players in the PWHL draft. The most in the country. Looks like womens hockey is competing with football and the NFL draft. Awesome- Go to OSU and go PRO!!!

How many of those 9 were developed by other programs and then plucked by OSU vs starting out at OSU? Just curious ...

They became FULLY developed and peaked at OSU.
Playing within the Muzzinator's system allowed them their best opportunity to showcase their skills.

Right ... Bilka, Barnes, Markowski, and many others were off the radar prior to OSU. Complete nonsense. Many already had National team experience. Their trajectory was unchanged. Give Muzzy credit ... she was able to grab top players from other programs and win a Natty. Realistically the development of most (not all) occurred elsewhere.

The list at Rink Live of the 167 players in the draft pool shows eight from Ohio State of 2023-24, plus Gabby Rosenthal. Of those nine, Bilka, Barnes, Kirk, Markowski, Hartmetz, Hauswirth, and Bernard are/were transfers. Gardner and Rosenthal played their whole time at OSU. So, seven of nine were transfers.

What's your point? Anyone can list technical information. How many years did Hartmetz play at OSU? What about Benard? Kirk? Hauswirth? Let's just start with that lol.

BackYardIce asked "how many...". I'm a "for the record" kind of guy, so I did a post answering him "for the record". That's all.

Hartmetz played three at OSU, Bernard also three, Hauswirth also three (I think).

How about that? EIGHT Buckeyes taken in the PWHL draft tonight and the Muzzinator rocking it in that green dress.
Probably the only time I've seen her on TV when she's not hammering the chewing gum LOL!
She said she hopes it helps with recruiting but she's always done just fine but you can't deny the star power her and the draft gave to our program tonight.
I see nothing but good things ahead for our program and there's also some very special knock your socks off announcements coming in the near future!

Understand. Fair enough.

The ones that have been here for three years, think they were developed here, not the other schools they were only at for a season or two.

Congratulations to the eight Buckeyes who were drafted earlier tonight!

Round 1, 4th pick, Hannah Bilka (F), Boston
Round 1, 5th pick, Cayla Barnes (D), Montreal
Round 2, 11th pick, Jennifer Gardiner (F), Montreal
Round 4, 19th pick, Gabby Rosenthal (F), New York
Round 4, 20th pick, Stephanie Markowski (D), Ottawa
Round 4, 24th pick, Lauren Bernard (D), Toronto
Round 7, 40th pick, Hadley Hartmetz (D), Boston
Round 7, 42nd pick, Raygan Kirk (G), Toronto

Kenzie Hauswirth did not get drafted, but as Jayna Hefford alluded to at the end, the road to the PWHL is not always a straight line.

Best wishes to Kenzie and all our Buckeyes who were drafted tonight!

It was nice to see all the interviews with the players, with Coach, and with former Buckeye Tessa Bonhomme!

Having eight players from OSU drafted can't hurt, that's for sure. I can live with people saying the three grad transfer draftees were developed elsewhere and we got them after they were already developed, but the other five were developed here. Cannot wait to hear the announcements. I have no way of knowing what they will be, but I am hoping one of the announcements involves a bunch of people with shovels breaking ground at that spot just north of the Covelli Center and the new Lacrosse Stadium that they have cleared out in recent months.

I was at our barn tonight with Mr.Muzzinator and he agrees with you those claims are BS and every transfer we've gotten had truly elevated their game to their MAXIMUM potential by Nadine and her staff. I'd say he should know!

8 of the 9 were drafted, not bad.

Let’s give credit to BC and Hockey East for the 2 1st rounders (Bilka add Barnes … 1 and done). The 4 other 1st round picks all ECAC. Who woulda thought?!?. Give Clarkson credit for Markowski too (another 1 and done). I’ll give you 5 of 6 and that’s giving you dibs on a few other transfers (3) that spent more than a single season at osu.
