Ohio State 2024-25 Domination of the Portal Queen!

Every player will tell you only the National Championship matters but if you want a fact and proof you always demand the regular season title is MUCH harder to earn than the conference tournament.

Sierra asked an inexact question, so I gave the two possible answers to it.

I've posted at least a couple times that Mark Johnson has said exactly that: you can win the WCHA tournament by having a good weekend, you can win the national championship by having two good weekends. To win the WCHA regular season, you have to good all year long. (The USCHO search function is pretty good; I could probably find when I've posted that in the past, if you want. :-)

We all went through this two years or three years ago, and at the time I dug through Ohio State press releases and used the "Wayback Machine" to put together as best I could a list of assistant coaches (the digging was necessary because when an assistant leaves, they tend to disappear from that year's roster page). Finding that list was pretty easy, because the USCHO Forum site has a really good 'search' function.

As best I can come up with, and updated for the last couple years:
- Muzerall hired 9/2016
- Jess Koizumi for the 2016-2017 season
- Milica McMillen 2017-18 and 2018-19
- Peter Elander for 2017-18
- Andrew Cassels for 2018-19
- Emily West for 2019-20 and 2020-21
- James Wisniewski (volunteer) 2019-20
- Zoe Hickel for 2020-21
- Kelsey Cline starting in 2021-22
- Peter Elander returned for 2022-23, 2023-24

If I missed anyone, please do add those names.

I knew you would come through like you always do.

TimothyA we don't respond to trolls that only get false information from Google. OSU actually coaches their athletes. Two years in a row, and you guys couldn't win the WCHA with all your paper talent... OSU out coached WI in the national championship game BIG time... WI looked dazed and confused. Keep trying to hate. Hey, Fyi, OSU are national champions. WI is NOT lol sucks to be you.

Is there something "false" in the list of assistants I posted? As I explained, it took some digging to get that much, and I invited you guys to point out anyone I might have missed.

(And the information contained in the list didn't come "from Google"; It came from archived copies of Ohio State roster pages and news releases.)

Wow... you have issues. You WI posters are talking about OSU assistant coaches on the OSU thread. Classy ... weird. Hey robertearle OSU are the 2024 National Champions!!!

Tick-tock... tick-tock ... this isn't false...OHIO STATE WOMENS HOCKEY are 2024 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS AGAIN!!! Think about it. BEAUTIFUL isn't it. Side note 2 years in a row WCHA CHAMPIONS!!! Google that. Coaching wins CHAMPIONSHIPS

LOL, I think the WI and MN posters spend more time over here trolling us than they actually do on their own threads. I can honestly say that I have no desire to go on other teams' threads and troll them. I'd rather stay here and talk about our amazing coach and our 2024 National Champions!!! But that's just me.

The 2012-13 Minnesota team would like to have a word with you...

Interestingly enough, Coach Nadine was an assistant coach for that Minnesota team and has said on a couple of occasions in interviews that this season's Ohio State team was better than that Minnesota team due to this season's Ohio State team being deeper and having more skill. Think I'll take her word for it.

This time around, at least, I came here because I happened across the Peter Elander announcement, and saw that it hadn't been mentioned here yet. No intent to "troll"; other comments by others, I felt, called for response.

Yeah, that's what forum is for. I slept in and hadn't seen OSU's announcement of it yet and appreciated you sharing.

West and Hickel were there for 21/22. Cline was director of hockey ops or something like that. Unfortunate this history is so hard to find.

would love to see Cline grow into assoc head coach over time. She is pretty accomplished at this point. 4 national championships in one way or another.

West, Hickel and McMillen all moved on to new hockey roles, closer to home. Don’t know why they left, but that’s an observation that can be seen. Koizumi is also still working in hockey last I read.

West, McMillen and Cline all played for Muzerall so there is a bit of a trend there.

Elander will be missed, what a great hire he was.

It's fantastic to watch three Buckeyes in the PWHL championship series doing so well. One of the best leaders, Liz Schepers and Patty winner Sophie Jaques. Wish them the best in tonight's final game. I have a feeling Clair DeGeorge will be special tonight. Buckeyes developing professional athletes. GO BUCKS!

How does the coaching carousel continue??? Coach Muzerall has stated many times this is her approach to the game. It's won the Buckeyes 2 National Championships. Coach Elander was at the Buckeyes for 4 years out of Muzeralls 8. Funny Timothy A. you don't go on the Gopher thread making the same comment. I'm sure Coach brings in a BIG time name (again) ... you should focus on WI program as it's a house of cards.

A little context my friend......You've only been posting for 13 months here. Prior to that for years the Muzzy assistant coaching carousel was a hot offseason topic for the wcha posters. My bringing that up was simply an extension of those discussions that you were not aware of. I personally thought the carousel would ultimately hold her back from achieving the ultimate success and I said that on this site. I was clearly wrong. Whatever the unconventional way she's handled her assistants has worked. I tap my stick in her general direction.

It would help the overall conversation if maybe you were a little more congenial and less flaming in your dealing with other posters. We get your excited about the Natty. When you lost the year before to WI no one from WI was rubbing that in your face like a 5th grader on the playground who just had a kickball home run.

If you look there is a definite pattern with Sierra's postings. I see he (or she) only reacts to what they consider troll like posting on OUR thread. I perceive the message being sent is if you're not an Ohio State fan and post on our thread it's up to you to be polite & civil otherwise expect to get sand kicked in your face. If you don't like what we post, just reply in a civil manner or just walk away and stay in your side of the playground. You should take note that when we post on your thread the conduct typically is much more respectful than some who post on ours.
That's what I see as Sierra's attitude.
I don't consider you Timothy to be one of the ones in question, I can tell when you try to prod it's just in fun.

I think some of our posters feel like there are certain posts that "call for response," too.
