Ohio State 2024-25 Domination of the Portal Queen!

but what Nadine did in coming in is force Ohio State to treat their women's hockey program and players seriously.

It's honestly a travesty that a university and athletic department as storied and funded as OSU let that program flounder as longa as they did.
When I spoke with Gene Smith last I told him I don't know how you were able to get Nadine Muzerall but that was as big a coup for women's hockey as it was getting Urban Meyer for football. And it's not only the women's program that was ignored, our men's team just completed their 60th season and not a single Natty! You referred to our funding and resources, the men could have been made into a national powerhouse team too but wasn't.

I think they have only worn them twice; once for the 2014 "Fill The Bowl", and one other time after that, but I don't recall the 'occasion'. Cream instead of pure white - which Tim objects to - and the logo is a stylized W known as the "Field House Crest", because there's a large version of it in stone (?) high on the front of the UW Field House. Interestingly, nobody knows who designed the logo back in 1929 or so; it's just there on the Field House. For the longest time the Field House Crest was rarely seen anywhere, but it is quite popular to put on stuff now, regularly seen around campus.

The photo here isn't the greatest to see them, but it's the best I could find quickly. Defender Melissa Channel's brother? boyfriend? used to wear one of hers to games quite often. I understand Tim's objection, but I love these jerseys. I'd buy one in a heartbeat, but they've never sold them. Worn only twice, never marketed, etc.

With some more time on the task:

IIRC, these were for the series of games played in Vail, Colorado (against NU and BU) in 2013

The Muzzinator signed a five year contract extension.
That will keep the rest of the WCHA crying in their beers for the next five years!

:D:p

It's pretty much standard practice at Wisconsin for coaches to get renewed annually, adding a "fifth year" to an existing contract. So that they can go to a recruit's home and parents and say "I'll be there for your time in the program", etc. Of course, coaches get fired, so the whole thing is a bit of a 'show'. Is that SOP at Ohio State, adding years onto an existing contract? Or was her contract truly "up" and needed renewing?

I can't recall but there's other OSU posters who know the details. If it's a new or revised contract I'd be very curious to know if her base salary would be raised to match our men's hockey coach? She achievement certainly eclipse his!
We had good discussion on the thread about the salary disparage between coaches of men & women's hockey programs. I might want to revisit it once details of her contract are known.

Congratulations to Coach Muzerall. Coach signed a 5 year contract today. Excellence on the ice but also excellence in the classroom. Ohio State Women’s Ice Hockey has had the highest team GPA at Ohio State for 4 years in a row.

Peter Elander is retiring.

At the end of last season his contract option switched to yearly at his request so he could make certain decisions. His father is in his 90's and Perter may have decided it's time to be closer to home for obviously reasons. He will be missed here, he's a great guy!

Unfortunately, when he returned, it was only going to be for 2 to 3 years. He finally got his National Championship with the greatest college hockey team ever assembled. Way to go out on top. An absolutely tremendous coach and person. Something tells me he will still be connected to the Buckeyes in some form. Thank you, Coach Elander, for part one with the Buckeyes and way to close out the sequel. Buckeye fans were lucky to have you, and what you accomplished at tOSU is nothing short of ELITE! BUCKEYES wish you and your family nothing but the best! GO BUCKS!

Some pretty big shoes to fill there. The coaching carousel continues.

How does the coaching carousel continue??? Coach Muzerall has stated many times this is her approach to the game. It's won the Buckeyes 2 National Championships. Coach Elander was at the Buckeyes for 4 years out of Muzeralls 8. Funny Timothy A. you don't go on the Gopher thread making the same comment. I'm sure Coach brings in a BIG time name (again) ... you should focus on WI program as it's a house of cards.
