Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

As I said earlier we can't give ND power plays. If Crane didn't get that call at center ice we could well have finished with a 2-1 win and 3 points.

Both of his penalties were just plain stupid. They were luck to get the 1 point, ND deserved to get all 3 of the points tonight. Ohio state could not complete two passes In a row all night long. Brady certainly stole this game from Notre Dame he made a bunch of huge saves when called-apron. Off to the great white north to face a wounded nanook hockey team. Splitting is a must up there anything else is a bonus.

I would say in our guy's defense if you noticed we were rarely sending our center in to aid along the boards behind the net when on offense or post up at the top of the crease. That was a coaching decision to try and keep ND from breaking up ice with numbers. Also we kept rotating our defensemen in much more frequently than last night which resulted in fewer scoring chances as they were on the wrong side of the blue line many times instead of being there to keep the puck in our offensive zone.

Does anyone know what happened to geding lat night?
I don't know if there was a lingering injury or just a roster adjustment for tonight's game. Normally I stick around afterwards to find these things out but was in a hurry to leave tonight to redeem my Raising Cains coupons. lol!

Your BTN PBP guy said it was the injury from the 3rd period last night (that he knew nothing about--only saying he left the ice hunched over) that kept him out of the lineup tonight.

With Michigan starting to find themselves and ND losing lately, next week is time to go for the kill.

Should be very interesting in 3 weeks to see Michigan play ohio. Hopefully they'll be on a 4 game winning streak.

You guys should be OK in that series. Penn State took two exhibition games against them over the weekend. Nice to know that you guys consider "finding themselves" to be sweeping a series against the last place team in the league. :D

Oh yeah, the Brady Hoke version of OSU. Hope Michigan doesn't get lost trying to find Athens. LOL!

I was just coming on here to post this--OSU Hockey To Host Pride Night--and mention that I really respect your program for actively working to put that event together. Hockeybuckeye's views are certainly disheartening but also show just how necessary events like this continue to be. Hockeybuckeye--you are certainly entitled to your own views and beliefs, but everyone is entitled to respect and fair treatment. An event like OSU's Pride Night is an effort to create a culture and atmosphere in which gay athletes (and LGBT individuals in general) do not have to fear being open and honest with teammates and friends. That is a noble goal and Buckeye fans should be very proud of their University, coaches, and players for possessing the courage, integrity, and respect for others evidenced by their decision to host such an event.

Thank you. Please know that HockeyBuckeye does not speak for all of us. I was incredibly proud of our program for having an LGBT pride night. It wasn't pushing a political agenda. There was no advocation for gay marriage or anything. All it was saying was what the message said, if you can play, you can play. Regardless of sexuality, race, cultural beliefs, religious beliefs, political beliefs or any other difference one may have, you are welcome on the ice.

And to HockeyBuckeye, I am thankful that I was raised in a Christian house that taught me to be loving and accepting of everyone. We obviously have very different Gods.

No, you have a very flawed understanding of biblical things. It's so sad too. There may be those here who disagree with me but I talked to many parents there who were upset that the University exposed their children to something so controversial and that they don't want their family's exposed to. If OSU wants to promote such things it should be done to their students, not blindsiding everybody with it at a public event.

Guys,
Back to hockey and the Buckeyes.
No matter what happened I dont think the players and coaches had any input or knowledge of what was going on. This is not the venue to discuss this subject. Were all Buckeye hockey fans. The team seems to be playing well and have an opportunity to keep building as the season goes on. A big weekend in front of the boys. Lets hope all the weekends are big from here on out. Should make for an exciting finish.

Agreed! So who will be up late watching the video feed this weekend?

Sweeping your biggest rival in the biggest rivalry in the sport provides a boost, big time. On the other hand, losing to them can cause a slide. Michigan's slide started back in November after a blowout loss on the road to them.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

Would like to keep this thread about hockey so, we are now instead of 3rd as I hoped we're in 4th place in the CCHA with 35 points which isn't bad. Ferris & Alasaka within easy striking distance only a point behind us tied with 34 pts.
Notre Dame has a 3 point lead at 38 and will host Michigan next. Michigan though struggling this season I thought didn't look that bad this weekend and of course ALWAYS has a chance at winning.
We however have to make that terrible long trip to Alaska and have to adjust our game somewhat when playing on their Olympic sized ice. Guess I won't be getting to bed early next weekend as I just have to watch or listen to those games. Best case scenerio next weekend is a sweep for both us and UM.

Ferris is 1 point ahead after their shootout win. The standings hadn't updated.

Yeah, I saw that but I didn't update it since we're Ohio State grads I figured we had the math skills to figure it out unlike the Michigan grads who have to count on their fingers when giving change for that pizza they just delivered. lol!

I will be up late this weekend watching both games. This should be a pretty good series. Alaska came to columbus and beat up the buckeyes on that saturday night so some revenge is in order. Winning this series could set them up for not only a bye but a home series in the 2nd round.

I just hope that Oz doesn't fundamentally change our game plan like he did between last Friday & Saturday's game to be more defense oriented due to the Olympic sized ice. We seem to do much better when we stay on the attack.
